Radiesse Back-of-Hand Wrinkle Treatment
What are the effects?
"The wrinkles on the back of my hands are bothering me..
If I get Radiesse, will the wrinkles improve?"
Many people have tried various treatments for the face,
but are not sure what to get for the hands.
That is because the back of the hands
has not received as much attention
as the face.
The best-known treatment for it
seems to be Radiesse.
Today, I’d like to talk honestly about
what kind of treatment Radiesse is
and what effects it has on back-of-hand wrinkles,
based on actual clinical research.

- Radiesse
How should back-of-hand treatment be approached?
For those concerned about aging on the back of the hands,
the first thing they often look for is a moisturizing cream.
It may help a little with skin texture,
but aging on the back of the hands is not just a matter of skin texture.
That is because the issue is not only back-of-hand wrinkles,
but also the visibility of tendons and blood vessels.

The essence of these changes is volume loss.
As we age, the fat in the subcutaneous tissue decreases,
and the structures that supported the skin become thinner,
causing the tendons and blood vessels underneath
to become visible.
In facial terms, this is similar to how hollow cheeks
make the cheekbones stand out more.
So aging on the back of the hands should be approached
by filling in volume along with improving skin texture.
- What is Radiesse back-of-hand wrinkle treatment?
Radiesse is a filler made from calcium hydroxylapatite.

Calcium hydroxylapatite is a substance similar to the components
that make up our bones and teeth.
It has high biocompatibility and settles stably within the tissue.
The filler is injected into the space between the subcutaneous tissue
of the back of the hand and the superficial fascia.
When Radiesse fills this space,
a layer is created over the tendons and blood vessels,
so the prominent structures are naturally covered.
That is not the end of it.
After being injected,
Radiesse begins stimulating the surrounding fibroblasts
over time.
When fibroblasts are activated,
new collagen is produced.

This collagen gradually thickens the tissue of the back-of-hand skin,
working in a way that helps volume last more firmly.
In other words, Radiesse is a method
that can be expected to provide both
immediate volume recovery right after injection
and tissue regeneration effects that build over time.
- What are the improvement effects of Radiesse on the back of the hand?
So naturally, you may be wondering
how effective it actually is.
Let’s look at the research.

This study evaluated the volume restoration effects
after applying Radiesse to the back of the hand.
At four institutions in Germany, 101 participants were divided
into a treatment group and an untreated control group,
and the results were compared at 3 months and 6 months.
The photo below shows a 59-year-old woman who participated in the study
before treatment (A) and after 3 months (B) and 6 months (C).

The back of the hand, where tendons were visibly prominent,
was naturally filled in,
and the wrinkles were also improved.
Improvement was confirmed in 89% of hands at 3 months after treatment,
and 75% still maintained improvement at 6 months.

There was a statistically significant difference
compared with the control group.
An important point is that
there was no effect on hand function after the procedure.

Because it is injected precisely into the space above the tendons,
it does not cause discomfort when using the hands.
Side effects were swelling, bruising, and pain,
and most naturally subsided within 2 weeks.
Today, we looked at Radiesse back-of-hand wrinkle treatment.
For a long time, the back of the hands has been a blind spot
in aging management.
It has not received as much attention as the face.
Radiesse is not simply about filling wrinkles,
but also about restoring volume to the back of the hands.
However, because the injection site and volume design
must be determined by directly examining
the structure of the back of the hand and the degree of aging,
I recommend making your decision after 충분히 consulting with an experienced medical professional.
