"I heard that Belotero Revive is more effective than a regular skin booster...
Why is that?"
When looking into skin boosters, you may come across claims that Belotero Revive lasts longer and is also better for improving skin quality than a regular skin booster.
Many people have wondered why it is more effective and whether there are any side effects.
Today, I’ll try to answer those questions.
Let’s look at how Belotero Revive differs from a regular skin booster,
what effects it actually has,
and whether there are any side effects.

How is it different from other skin boosters?
Most skin boosters work by injecting non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid to provide hydration.
The skin becomes moisturized right after injection, but there is a limitation in that the effect does not last long because the hyaluronic acid breaks down quickly.
Belotero Revive differs in two ways.

First, it uses cross-linked hyaluronic acid.
Cross-linking means chemically connecting the hyaluronic acid molecules to slow down the rate of breakdown.
Compared with non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid, it stays in the skin longer and helps maintain hydration for a longer time.
Second, it also contains glycerol.
Glycerol is a humectant that attracts moisture.
While hyaluronic acid helps retain moisture in the dermis, glycerol quickly provides a moisturizing effect on the skin surface.
The feeling that the skin becomes hydrated right after injection is largely due to the role of this glycerol.
When these two are combined, the results differ from those of a conventional skin booster.

Because the cross-linked hyaluronic acid in Belotero Revive breaks down more slowly,
it can remain in the dermis long enough to bind with the extracellular matrix and activate fibroblasts,
leading to the production of collagen and elastin.
In addition, glycerol strengthens the skin barrier and reduces moisture loss,
which steadily supports the regeneration process.
The biggest difference from a regular skin booster is that it does not simply stop at supplying moisture, but acts in a way that improves the skin’s structure itself.

What effects does it actually show?
There is a study that evaluated the effects of Belotero Revive in Korean participants, so let’s take a look.

This paper followed patients for up to 24 weeks after three treatments at four-week intervals, and assessed changes in skin quality using measurement devices.

Skin quality was analyzed in four categories.
The left side shows before treatment, and the right side shows the appearance after 24 weeks.

Compared with before treatment, improvements could be seen in skin glow, reduced pore size, smoother skin texture, and a brighter skin tone.
Looking at the four categories measured in the study, significant improvement was confirmed at both 12 weeks and 24 weeks in all items: skin glow and hydration, skin elasticity, skin surface uniformity, and skin tone uniformity.

What is especially notable is that the study also confirmed reduced sebum secretion and improved skin barrier function, which had not been reported in previous studies.
When sebum secretion decreases, it can lead to smaller pores.
The researchers interpreted this as the result of a pathway in which hyaluronic acid inhibits lipid synthesis in the sebaceous glands.

Are there any side effects?
The side effects reported in this study were redness and bruising at the injection site.
All were mild and temporary reactions that disappeared naturally without separate treatment.
No serious side effects such as infection or necrosis were reported.

This is related to the treatment method used for Belotero Revive.
Because it is injected in small amounts into multiple points in the shallow layer just below the dermis, bruising or swelling may occur during the injection process.
If your skin is sensitive or there is inflammation at the treatment site, it is better not to undergo the procedure.
Belotero Revive’s effects are not limited to simple hydration; they are aimed at broadly improving skin glow, elasticity, pores, and skin tone.
In a study conducted on Korean participants, meaningful changes were confirmed in all four skin quality categories, and the effects were maintained for up to 24 weeks.
Side effects were reported only as mild reactions at the injection site, confirming its safety as well.
If you want effects that last longer than a conventional skin booster and hope to improve your skin, this is a treatment you may want to consider.
However, before deciding on the procedure, please first consult to see whether it is suitable for your skin condition.
