Today, we would like to show you the case of someone who visited us after being concerned about melasma and dark spots that had developed in the center of the face.

This patient was a male office worker in his 30s, and it was his first laser treatment.

People who visit us with concerns about pigmentation are most curious about whether the treatment will really be effective and how many sessions are needed before results appear.

We hope that looking at how many sessions this patient received and which lasers were used will help answer those questions, at least to some extent.

What Was the Skin Condition Before Treatment?

Before treatment, the main concern was the pigmentation settled on the skin’s surface.

In particular, dark spots, including freckles, stood out prominently in the mid-face area—that is, between the nose and cheekbones—and there was also some melasma mixed in.

When treating melasma and dark spots, it is important to proceed in a way that does not overly burden the skin.

If surface pigmentation is aggressively removed all at once, it may instead return because of the resulting irritation.

What Was the Treatment Plan?

Because the surface pigmentation was the main concern, we focused the treatment plan on Clarity, a laser that responds to this type of pigmentation.

To reduce irritation and lower the possibility of recurrence, we also used Genesis, PicoPlus toning, and Hollywood toning together.

Genesis uses a warm sensation of heat to stimulate the skin barrier and collagen, creating an environment in which pigmentation is less likely to return.

PicoPlus

PicoPlus delivers energy over a short period of time, reducing irritation while breaking the pigmentation into smaller particles, while the Hollywood laser helps gently even out the skin tone.

The important thing was not using a large number of devices, but creating a combination suited to the depth and distribution of this patient’s pigmentation.

What Was the Skin Condition After Treatment?

This patient received 10 toning sessions over approximately seven months.

The photos above compare the first and tenth sessions side by side.

The dark spots that had been prominent in the mid-face area were noticeably lighter. The patient was also very satisfied with the results.

One point I would especially like to emphasize here is the treatment period.

Laser toning requires a sufficient number of sessions, but the treatments also need to be performed at appropriate intervals.

The interval may vary depending on the condition of the skin, but please keep in mind that a certain amount of time is necessary.

Today, we showed you a case involving pigmentation that had remained pronounced in the mid-face area among cases of Yeongdeungpo melasma and dark spots, and that was treated over seven months.

The effectiveness of pigmentation treatment depends on selecting the appropriate laser for your pigmentation and improving the skin environment as well to help prevent the pigmentation from recurring.

Rather than expecting pigmentation to be treated quickly, treating it over time without placing an excessive burden on the skin can lead to good results.
