Yeongdeungpo Potenza Juvelook
Acne Scar Treatment Results,
What Does the Research Show?
Hello.
This is You & I Clinic, Yeongdeungpo Branch.
"Why do you also use Juvelook
when treating acne scars with Potenza?"
When looking into treatments for depressed scars,
you may sometimes receive Potenza alone
and sometimes receive Juvelook as well,
which may leave you wondering why.
This is because Potenza and Juvelook
work differently inside the skin.
It is not essential to use both together,
but there are benefits that may be obtained
when they are used in combination.
Today, through a study that used Potenza and Juvelook
together, we will look at
how their effects are connected,
step by step.

Why should we first examine
depressed acne scars?
Depressed acne scars do not
form in just one shape.
Ice pick scars, which have narrow openings and extend deeply downward,
boxcar scars, which are depressed with sharply defined edges,
and rolling scars, which are pulled from beneath the skin
and slope downward broadly and gradually,
can all appear on the same face.

Even when all of them look depressed from the surface,
the treatment methods can differ somewhat.
For some scars, regeneration to refill
the depressed skin comes first,
while for others, the first step is to release
the adhesions pulling on the base.
In some cases, the surface rises only after
the insufficient volume has been supplemented.
That is why the shape of the acne scars
must be examined first
in order to determine the direction of treatment.

How are Potenza and Juvelook used to treat acne scars?
Potenza inserts microneedles into the skin
and delivers RF energy through the needles.
This heat creates very small
coagulation points in the dermis,
and as the skin repairs those areas,
new collagen forms.
The pumping tip adds
another action to this process.
When the needles enter and exit,
channels and changes in pressure are created.
This allows the substance placed on the skin
to be pushed toward the dermis.

The image above illustrates the principle
by which the substance is delivered
through the needle channels.
The tip used in the study was the CP16,
which has 16 microneedles,
and it was used together with monopolar RF
and Juvelook (PDLLA).
PDLLA is a regenerative ingredient
in the collagen booster category.
It gradually breaks down in the skin
and helps collagen develop.

In other words, the Potenza and Juvelook combination
can be understood as a treatment that supplies
material to help skin stimulated by RF
regenerate.

What are the treatment results of Potenza and Juvelook for acne scars?

The study described above
included 42 Korean participants
with atrophic acne scars.
The participants underwent four treatments
at four-week intervals,
using Potenza monopolar RF and the CP16 pumping tip,
along with PDLLA treatment.

The ECCA score, which evaluates
the extent and severity of the scars,
decreased from an average of 133.57
to 84.17 at the final assessment,
showing a change of approximately 36.99%.
Participant satisfaction also
increased compared with before treatment.
It took an average of 2.62 days
for the redness to subside after treatment,
and the average pain during the procedure
was reported as 3.9 out of 10.
Although some erythema and hyperpigmentation occurred,
they subsided within two weeks
without lasting complications.
However, actual recovery and pain
may vary from person to person
depending on skin thickness and sensitivity
and the treatment settings.

The image on the left shows the skin before treatment,
while the image on the right shows it after treatment was completed.
The noticeable atrophic scars appeared filled in,
and the skin looked considerably smoother.
Please note, however, that these before-and-after photos
show the changes of a single participant.

How is acne scar treatment actually planned?
The fact that the Potenza and Juvelook combination
can be effective does not mean that the same combination
is applied unchanged to every depressed scar.
During a consultation, we first check
whether there is any active inflammation,
what the shape and depth of the depressed scars are,
and whether there are adhesions pulling on the base.
We then consider skin thickness and sensitivity,
whether the person has previously experienced hyperpigmentation,
how the skin responded to prior procedures,
and how much time can be devoted to recovery.

Based on these findings, we may consider
using another scar treatment in addition to Potenza
or combining it with another treatment.
For example, scars with a firmly attached base
may require treatment that addresses the adhesions,
while narrow, deep scars may be treated locally.
When more surface regeneration is needed,
Fraxel laser treatment may also be used.
Because each person may have
several types of scars mixed across the face,
it is important to assess the skin condition
and determine the treatment accordingly.
The Yeongdeungpo Potenza and Juvelook combination
is one effective method for treating acne scars.
However, the appropriate method may vary
depending on the condition of the acne scars.
Please first assess the scar structure,
any active inflammation,
previous treatment responses,
and recovery circumstances,
and receive treatment suited to those factors.
