Hello :)
This is skin concern time,
where we cover a variety of skin worries from Forena’s perspective~!

Today, we’ll be talking about lovebugs, one of the hot topics lately!
And further, we’ll also take a look at whether there are any precautions to keep in mind for summer skin care, such as insect allergies.
Let’s take some time to go over it together!

It seems many people in the Seoul metropolitan area have been stressed because of lovebugs.
Today, I’d like to talk about insects and the skin.

Is there a connection between lovebugs and the skin?
Fortunately, lovebugs are known to be non-toxic and do not bite people
or transmit disease.
Therefore, skin disease caused by lovebugs generally does not occur.
However, some people may experience skin irritation, allergic reactions, or may scratch themselves and cause wounds when lovebugs stick to their body or are touched.
This is more likely a reaction that occurs depending on individual sensitivity
rather than something directly caused by the lovebugs themselves.
If you have concerns about sensitive skin,
it would be better to take extra care in daily life.

Skin allergies caused by insects
However, skin allergies caused by insects are still something to watch out for.
Usually, this refers to symptoms such as swelling, redness,
and itching at the site of the bite.
In severe cases, blisters may form or it may lead to secondary infection.
Symptoms can vary depending on the type of insect,
and severe swelling at the site of a mosquito bite
is sometimes called "Skeeter syndrome."
During summer or while traveling during vacation season, you may be exposed to various insects,
and it may not be limited to simple skin allergy symptoms,
so if necessary, be sure to consult a specialist.

Main symptoms
Itching:
The bitten area itches intensely.
Rash and swelling:
The bitten area becomes red and swollen.
Blisters:
In severe cases, blisters may appear.
Secondary infection:
Scratching or irritation may cause a secondary infection.

How to respond
Clean the bitten area:
Wash the bitten area thoroughly with soap and water.
Cold compress:
Apply a cold compress to help relieve swelling and itching.
Do not scratch:
Be careful not to scratch, as it may worsen symptoms and cause a secondary infection.
Visit a hospital:
If symptoms are severe or a secondary infection is suspected, visit a hospital for treatment.
The discomfort caused by insects in summer
is not limited to the skin alone,
so depending on your symptoms,
please find the right clinic or hospital and visit it!
As this summer’s climate has changed a lot, many new problems may arise,
so Forena Clinic hopes everyone stays healthy!
