A country with a strong interest in whitening!
These days, there is a growing atmosphere of respecting each personโs own beauty,
so many people also prefer different skin types, such as tanning.
Still, interest in whitening-related topics remains high!
So, is the reason Korea prefers a brighter skin tone because of idols?

Because of the recent global popularity of K-culture and beauty!
Many foreign customers ask, โWhy do Koreans have such fair skin?โ
To answer only, โOur country has long been interested in whitening~,โ
felt insufficient, so I decided to write this post!

Is the preference for fair skin something that arose only in modern times?
Of course, there can be modern reasons such as the development of idol culture
and admiration for fair skin.
But it is hard to say that those are the only reasons.
For example, in Koreaโs old agricultural society, skin tanned by the sun
was mainly associated with the laboring class,
while fair skin was considered a symbol of the ruling class.
Within the traditional culture of the โwhite-clad nation,โ
the idea that white symbolizes purity and cleanliness may also have had an influence.
In modern times, the influence of Western culture and media such as idols
is believed to have increased this preference!

Is the average skin tone of Koreans on the fair side?
Because the preference for fair skin has lasted for a long time, and with the development of whitening techniques,
it can be said that compared with many countries today, Koreans tend to be on the fairer side,
but this is not an absolute standard of beauty!
Also, on average, Korean skin tone often falls in a light yellowish range,
and it varies depending on genetic and environmental factors.
To explain it simply with cosmetics, skin tone is said to correspond roughly to
women: shade 17โ23 | men: shade 23โ27
for foundation usage.
Since this is an average value, it may not be exact, but I hope you can take it as a rough impression!

So, has whitening technology advanced a lot in Korea?
It depends on the perspective and standard,
but Korea is one of the countries where whitening cosmetic technology has advanced!
Development of whitening functional cosmetics using native plants and natural ingredients is active,
and various materials such as wild ginseng, floating-heart lotus, and Chinese senna extracts are being studied.
In addition, research results proving whitening effects have been reported,
and related products are popular with consumers.
Domestic research institutes and companies continue to devote themselves to developing whitening technology,
and some ingredients are even listed in the international cosmetic ingredient directory *ICID.
Given the high level of interest and preference, that may be only natural!

Do whitening-related procedures really work?
First of all, I cannot give a definite answer about effectiveness.
The reason I cannot give a definite answer is that, in the case of procedures, skin condition, skin type,
and many other factors work together, so wherever you ask,
you are likely to hear the same answer.
What we can say at Forena Clinic, however, is that
after undergoing a procedure, aftercare is the most important thing.
There are many post-procedure precautions on the Forena Clinic blog,
such as using sunscreen and avoiding irritating cosmetics immediately after the procedure,
so if there is information you need, it may be worth taking a look.

Are whitening or fair skin
also popular worldwide?
No. There are countries where interest in whitening is high, like ours,
but not every country has high interest in whitening.
In particular, in countries and regions with a lot of sun exposure,
skin protection may be a more important concern!
In places such as Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia, where sun exposure is high, there may be greater interest in procedures and care methods that reduce skin damage rather than whitening.
Also, in the United States and Europe, the trend is largely different depending on what people pursue,
with many people, like the Kardashian family,
preferring tanning and pursuing a healthy-looking appeal.

Please also tell us about the really many types of [ ]!
In the next post, weโll look at this topic, which has as many types as Botox among recent requests!
Today, we looked at Koreaโs whitening culture and the preference for fair skin.
Of course, some people say that in Korea, what is preferred is not fair skin but porcelain skin,
but I think the development of whitening technology is possible because there is both demand and supply!
Demand comes from preference, so wouldnโt this still make Korea a country that tends to prefer it?
Then, Forena Clinic will continue to support your healthy skin lifestyle today as well!
