I clearly sleep 7 to 8 hours a day, but my dark circles just won’t go awayㅠㅠ

Actually, this is about me..
Dark circles have been my biggest skin concern for a very long time!
They definitely haven’t gotten worse, but they also haven’t improved,
so I prepared this post. Let’s get started!

Do we really need an explanation when everyone already knows?

There may be things you didn’t know!
Dark circles refer to the condition where the skin under the eyes becomes darker and looks shadowy.
They are one of the main reasons someone may look tired or older.
They occur when blood vessels show through the thin skin around the eyes, due to pigmentation, or because of the shadow from the tear trough.
Because dark circles can appear for a variety of reasons,
their characteristics can also vary slightly depending on the cause.
For example, dark circles caused by visible blood vessels tend to have a bluish tone,
while dark circles caused by pigmentation tend to be brown.

These are some of their characteristics!
Color changes in the under-eye area:
The most noticeable feature is that the skin directly under the eyes appears darker than the surrounding skin.
Depending on the person, the color may sometimes appear bluish, purple, brown,
or even dark red, though this is rare.
A tired-looking impression:
Even if you are not actually tired, dark circles make the whole face look tired and worn out.
Connection to lifestyle habits and genetic factors:
They are closely related to lifestyle habits such as lack of sleep, stress, dehydration, smoking, and drinking,
but they can also appear in people who are genetically prone to thin skin or pigmentation.
Temporary or chronic:
They may appear temporarily due to fatigue and then disappear, but they often persist chronically as well.

Are there different types of dark circles too?
Yes, that’s right!
Pigmented dark circles (brown dark circles):
The skin under the eyes looks brown or dark red. When you pull the skin under the eyes with your finger, the color change is minimal or tends to become darker.
Vascular dark circles (blue/purple dark circles):
The area under the eyes has a bluish or purplish tone. When you pull or press the skin under the eyes with your finger, the blood disperses and the color tends to become lighter.
Structural dark circles (shadow-type dark circles):
They look like a dark shadow. When you press under the eyes with your finger or change the direction of the light, the shadow tends to disappear or become lighter temporarily.
To choose an effective treatment or care method, it is important to identify the type of dark circles accurately.
Self-diagnosis can help, but for an accurate diagnosis, it is best to consult a specialist.

Basic improvement methods
Get enough sleep:
Lack of sleep impairs blood circulation and dulls the skin, making it a major cause of worsening dark circles.
UV protection:
Ultraviolet rays promote melanin production and worsen pigmented dark circles. When going বাইরে? Wait, translate faithfully; keep English only. Actually should be: When going out, it is important to wear sunglasses or a hat and to apply sunscreen carefully around the eyes as well.
Quit smoking and drinking:
Smoking and drinking interfere with blood circulation and accelerate skin aging, worsening dark circles.
Avoid irritating the eye area:
The habit of rubbing or scrubbing your eyes frequently can cause pigmentation and skin damage, so it should be avoided.

Can procedures help too?
It depends on the cause, skin type, and each individual!
Laser treatment:
Pigmented type: Laser toning, IPL, and other lasers that destroy melanin are used to improve pigmentation. Usually, multiple sessions are needed.
Vascular type:
Vascular-specific lasers are used to constrict or destroy dilated blood vessels.
Improving elasticity:
When fine lines around the eyes or reduced skin elasticity are also present, ultrasound or radiofrequency lifting procedures
may help by promoting collagen regeneration.
However, since dark circles come in many types,
you should definitely consult a specialist before undergoing any procedure.
Because self-diagnosis provides only limited information, if you have concerns,
please visit a nearby dermatology clinic and ask for a consultation!
