When looking up information about dermatology procedures, you’ll often see the word downtime.
Many people misunderstand downtime!
So today, let’s take some time to understand downtime correctly!
👇️Watch the video here👇️
Then let’s get right into what you’re curious about!

*The content in the video may vary depending on individual condition and skin 상태.
Downtime is not the period when results appear!

⌛ A timer for when you can return to daily life!
Downtime refers to returning to daily life.
In other words, it means the time until you can naturally do things like makeup or washing your face again.
For example, in dermatology procedure information:
If it says, “There is almost no downtime,” it means makeup is possible right after the procedure.
If it says, “Downtime is about 1–2 weeks,” it means it may take some time after the procedure because of things like injection marks or embossing.
Then you might ask whether a procedure with no downtime is a better procedure.
Non-invasive procedures (such as lifting) are of course relatively fast because they are not procedures that actually involve things like needles affecting the skin,
but that does not mean they can be guaranteed to be more effective.
Conversely, procedures such as skin boosters or Botox may have a faster time to visible results.
If you have an important schedule or work in an office, it is important to plan your dermatology visit schedule with downtime in mind.
Check the time until results appear for the effect!

😠 The downtime is over, but there’s no effect!
As explained above, just because downtime is over does not mean the effect appears immediately!
If the effect seems to be taking longer than the time you were told,
make sure to double-check whether the dermatology clinic gave you incorrect downtime guidance, or
whether you misunderstood the procedure explanation yourself.
One of the questions people ask a lot is:
"If downtime is 1–2 weeks and the time until results appear is 3 weeks, does that mean it takes a total of 5 weeks?"
There are some procedures for which exceptions apply, but in most cases,
these should be considered separately, so you should think of both as starting separately from right after the procedure!
If you’re not sure, please be sure to ask during the dermatology consultation process!
Does a procedure with shorter downtime also have less effect?

❌ That is completely incorrect!
Differences in effect or the duration of effect vary by procedure.
Downtime does not affect the procedure’s results.
In fact, through advances in technology, the downtime of high-end procedures has been decreasing a lot.
For example, in the early days of lifting procedures, downtime was quite long
(about 1–2 weeks).
However, with the latest generation of lifting devices such as Ultherapy Prime and Thermage FLX,
there are now more cases where there is no downtime or very little downtime.
But that does not necessarily mean the time until results appear has also become shorter,
so you must check both things at the same time!
As more and more customers visit dermatology clinics ahead of important schedules,
these are the two things you should pay the most attention to when adjusting your schedule!
So today, we learned in detail about downtime!
I hope this was helpful for your dermatology scheduling!
