The days when eye plastic surgery meant only one of two methods — buried suture or incision — are now over.

The most commonly chosen example is “canthoplasty.”

As the name suggests, by opening up the front, upper, back, and lower parts of the eyes, it expands the horizontal and vertical dimensions of the eyes and can also improve an eye shape that looks sharp or somewhat cramped.

It is also a procedure that can remove the Mongolian fold covering the inner corner of the eye.

In fact, inner canthoplasty is usually performed together with upper canthoplasty, and outer canthoplasty is performed together with lower canthoplasty.

so upper canthoplasty is performed together so that the double-eyelid line can be seen farther toward the front, creating a clearer, more open eye shape.

In the case of outer canthoplasty, it means not only lengthening the eyes, but it is also a procedure many people choose in order to improve an impression by making the eye corners look a little softer, especially for those whose eye corners are raised.

It plays a role in slightly lowering the eye corners in order to create what is commonly called a puppy-like eye shape.

However, because the back of the eye is closer to the orbital bone than people may expect, it is often difficult to open it as much as patients usually want.

So at this time, lower canthoplasty is performed together in order to create a more rounded and natural line, resulting in a softer eye shape.
