Hello, this is Director Lee Bo-hyung of Note Plastic Surgery.
Today, I will talk about eyelid closure incompetence,
a side effect of double eyelid surgery.
Eyelid Closure Incompetence

Some of you may be unfamiliar with the term eyelid closure incompetence.
Simply put, it means a symptom where the eyes do not fully close even when you try to close them.

This usually occurs when excessive correction is performed during ptosis correction,
or when too much skin is removed during surgery.
If the problem is caused by excessive skin removal,
it may be a little uncomfortable to close the eyes for about 2 to 3 months after surgery,
but in many cases it gradually improves over time.

However, if the eyes continue not to close properly because of overcorrection in ptosis correction,
then revision correction should be performed as early as 6 months after surgery.
Ideally, the first surgery would create exactly the eyes you wanted,
but due to various causes, the side effects mentioned above can occur.
It can be very upsetting and worrying,
but since these are often issues that can be improved quite simply,
don’t worry too much on your own. I recommend visiting the clinic and receiving a consultation.
