Hello, I’m Lee Bo-hyung, Director of Note Plastic Surgery.
Today, I’d like to talk about open rhinoplasty, one of the types of nose surgery where scars are not visible.
What is open rhinoplasty?

Open rhinoplasty involves making an incision of about 4–5 mm on the columella, the part between the nostrils, from the inside of the nose, and then fully lifting the nasal skin to perform the surgery while directly checking the overall structure with the eyes.
It is the most basic surgical method, and its very clear advantage is that it allows precise and detailed manipulation through a wide field of view.

So, in cases where the shape of the nasal tip needs major correction, when correcting subtle asymmetry, or when performing revision surgery that requires relatively extensive manipulation, the open approach produces much more stable and predictable results.

What about scars?
It depends on the patient’s skin type and tissue characteristics, but because the incision is very small, once enough time has passed it is barely noticeable, and many patients even say, “I can’t really tell there is a scar.”
