Hello, I am Director Lee Bo-hyeong of Note Plastic Surgery Clinic.
Today, I would like to talk about eye-opening surgery, which many people are curious about.
When are sutures usually removed after eye-opening surgery?
Sutures are generally removed between 5 and 7 days after eye-opening surgery, depending on the surgical area and each individual’s recovery progress.
For medial canthoplasty, recovery is relatively quick due to the characteristics of the skin tissue around the inner corner of the eye, so sutures are often removed on the fifth or sixth day on average.
By contrast, lateral canthoplasty and lower canthoplasty involve areas around the outer corner and lower eyelid that experience continuous movement and friction whenever you blink. Therefore, it is generally standard to remove the sutures on the seventh day so that the tissue can adhere more securely without separating.
Until the sutures are removed, you should take care not to let water come into contact with the wound area. It is also recommended to apply the eye ointment provided by the clinic regularly to prevent the area from becoming dry.
Starting the day after the sutures are removed, light washing with water is possible. The sticky foreign-body sensation or feeling of tightness that may remain is also generally relieved comfortably at the same time as suture removal.

Note Plastic Surgery Clinic uses fine sutures to minimize irritation to the skin around the eyes and performs suture removal at the most appropriate time to help ease concerns about scarring.
We carefully adjust even the very slight pain that may occur when removing the sutures. Immediately after removal, we check the skin’s regeneration status and provide customized aftercare instructions.
We promise high-quality care from the beginning through the final stage so that, once the sutures are gone, only a refreshed and smooth-looking eye shape remains.
