Hello, I’m Kim Hyeong-taek, CEO and chief surgeon of Kowon Plastic Surgery.
In this answer note, I’m responding to a question from someone who was worried because the skin on the tip of the nose was peeling after revision rhinoplasty.
I’m here to answer that question.

Q. I used an autologous rib graft for revision rhinoplasty, and the skin is peeling offㅠㅠ
This was the fourth nose revision surgery I had.
The first time I had nose surgery and used the septum, this didn’t happen, but when I used an autologous rib graft for the second revision surgery, and when I used autologous rib and ear cartilage for the third and fourth surgeries, the skin on the tip of my nose peeled. Can I rub it and peel the skin off?
Is the skin peeling on the tip of the nose maybe a process of shedding because the skin on the tip is becoming thinner?
Only the circled part in the photo is peelingㅠㅜ
If you look at the question, it seems you’re concerned because the skin on the tip of the nose, that is, the dead skin, is peeling after revision rhinoplasty, and you’re asking whether it is okay to rub it off. At the same time, you also seem worried that the skin may be getting thinner.
What I’d like to tell the person who asked is that, even if it is not revision rhinoplasty with an autologous rib graft, skin flaking commonly occurs on the tip of the nose after nose surgery in general.
It is a normal phenomenon, so there is no need to worry.
If you remove the dead skin too aggressively, the skin may become red, so it’s best to remove it very carefully or leave it as it is.
I hope you have a good result from the surgery.
