Hello. I’m Kim Hyung-taek, the CEO doctor of Kowon Plastic Surgery.
This answer note is for the Japan edition.
I received an inquiry asking whether it is possible to have surgery again because the nose did not turn out the way desired after rhinoplasty.
I will answer the question.

Q. [Japanese Q&A] After surgery, my nose became tall and long. Is it possible to have surgery again to make it short and low?
I had rhinoplasty 9 months ago. I wanted a short nose with a round, low, youthful look, but it ended up tall and long. I was told that the cartilage graft placed at the tip of the nose could also be removed, but that it might make the nose look even more unnecessarily long. Is there a way to shorten the nose while also lowering its height? It’s okay if the philtrum looks a little long.

The reason a nose looks long can be considered in terms of the bridge and the tip. First, if there is silicone in the bridge, and the starting point of the silicone (the nasal root) is too high, the nose may look a little long and give a more aged impression, so it is better to slightly lower the starting point of the silicone (the nasal root). Also, if the tip is too high or if the tip seems to droop downward, the nose can look long. In that case, lowering the tip height a little or slightly raising the tip angle upward to create a slightly curved feel can make the nose look short and cute. For more details, please show the balance of the entire face and the nose shape and get an accurate diagnosis!
