Hello. I am Kim Hyeong-taek, the CEO doctor of Kowon Plastic Surgery Clinic.
In this answer note, I would like to discuss the concerns of a patient who underwent inferior turbinectomy and continues to experience nasal congestion.

Q. Nasal congestion after inferior turbinectomy
It has been about 5 days since the inferior turbinectomy surgery.
But sometimes my nose gets blocked and I can’t sleep.....
My nose is still blocked after the surgery. Does recovery take a long time?
I am going to the hospital, and each time I go, it seems they remove foreign material from my nose.
I heard that if your nose is blocked, rinsing it with distilled water or washing it with an over-the-counter nasal cleanser can make breathing a little easier.
It has been about 5 days since I had inferior turbinectomy. Can I use a nasal cleanser?

If it has been about 5 days since the inferior turbinectomy, it is normal to feel discomfort because of foreign material in the nose and swelling of the nasal mucosa.
As the swelling of the mucosa subsides and the foreign material accumulated inside the nose begins to disappear, breathing will become easier.
If you are continuing to visit the hospital regularly, it is better to have the foreign material removed at the hospital.
If you try to wash the inside of your nose yourself, unexpected bleeding or other problems may occur, so please contact the hospital where you had the surgery and discuss how to proceed with further care.
I wish you good results.
