Hello. I’m Kim Hyeong-taek, the CEO surgeon of Kowon Plastic Surgery, specializing in noses.
Today’s answer note is about laughing after nose surgery.

Q. I laughed a lot after nose surgery. Can it ruin my nose?
It has been two weeks since my nose surgery. I had tip surgery and non-incisional nostril reduction surgery.
Starting a week after the surgery, I met some acquaintances, and we had so much fun that I kept laughing.
I did feel a pulling sensation in my nose, but I just kept laughing ㅠ
And now, from my perspective, it seems like the tip of my nose has dropped and my nostrils have widened again compared to right after the surgery.
It feels like I went through a difficult surgery, but nothing has changedㅠ
Could it be because I laughed too much even though it has only been a short time since the surgery?

I would need to see the before-and-after photos to answer accurately,
but I’ll explain based on a typical situation.
First, after non-incisional nostril reduction surgery, laughing or going about daily life can naturally cause the area to loosen a little after the operation.
Through this process, the nose can become somewhat wider.
Also, when a bulbous nose appears while laughing and the tip of the nose moves downward toward the lips, making it look like a hooked nose shape, the muscle that lowers the nasal tip (the depressor septi nasi) may be working, which can make the height of the nose tip lower than it was right after surgery.
Since only two weeks have passed since the surgery, I recommend that the patient visit the hospital where the surgery was performed and discuss it in detail with the doctor in charge.
I hope you get a good result.
Thank you.
