Hello. I’m Kim Hyung-taek, the representative director of Kowon Plastic Surgery, a nose specialty clinic.
Today’s answer note is about tip rhinoplasty and complications after tip surgery.

Q. I had septal tip surgery, and I suspect there may be a complication with the tip surgery
About 1 year and 6 months ago, I had tip surgery using septal cartilage and had silicone inserted into the bridge of my nose.
But I feel like the tip of my nose has collapsed a little..
There is a round discolored area at the tip of my nose, and when I touch this area, it feels flat rather than raised.
Also, when I touch this area, it feels like something is moving.
It doesn’t really look red or anything like that.
Could the cartilage have separated..?
If it has separated, would the revision surgery be considered difficult?
If I need revision surgery, can I have it done after 3 months?

If, after tip surgery, it feels slightly lower and seems to have separated, as you mentioned, there is a possibility that the cartilage has separated, or there may be another cause.
The exact cause can only be determined by examining you in person.
And since it has been 1 year and 6 months since your nose surgery, revision surgery can be performed right away.
However, if it does not fit your schedule, it is fine to have it done 3 months later.
The surgical method depends on what the cause is, and as mentioned above, that can only be determined by looking at your nose directly.
If the cartilage has separated and the tip has become lower, the procedure would be carried out by opening the nose and bringing the tip cartilage together.
I hope you get a good result.
Thank you.
