Today, I’ll respond to a question from someone who is worried about whether cotton left inside the nose after rhinoplasty could cause inflammation.

Q. After nose surgery, if not all the cotton inside my nose was removed, will it cause inflammation?

After my nose surgery, I had all the cotton removed from inside my nose the next day (yesterday), but during disinfection, they put a very small piece of cotton back in and cleaned it.

I thought it was intentionally put in, so I went home as it was.

But the cotton inside my nose was so small that it seemed to keep going deeper, so I called the hospital.

However, the hospital said all the cotton should have been removed and that there’s no way they would have left any inㅠ

So I’m planning to go back to the hospital tomorrow, but it feels like the cotton has already gone in quite far ㅠㅠ If it goes in too deeply, could it be impossible to remove?

And surely this won’t cause inflammation, right? I should have gone in right away this morning instead of just calling ㅠㅠㅜ

Sometimes, during treatment, cotton can get into or remain in the nose.

It can be removed, so there’s no need to worry too much.

If the cotton inside the nose keeps going deeper and moves toward the mouth, you may unknowingly swallow it for a moment.

If it has moved into the mouth, just spit it out; if it has not, please visit the hospital and we will remove it, so don’t worry. Also, cotton inside the nose does not cause inflammation.
