Hello. I am Kim Hyung-taek, the head doctor of Kowon Plastic Surgery Clinic, performing rhinoplasty with honest and delicate technique.
Today, I will answer a question from someone who left a message worried that, after revision nose surgery, the swelling is not going down properly and the nose tip does not feel much, so they are concerned whether it is due to inflammation or some other problem.

Q. After revision nose surgery, is it an infection?
Hello. I had revision nose surgery and I am worried it might be an infection, so I’m asking a question.
First, the revision nose surgery was done on November 6.
A 5 mm silicone implant was used, and the nose tip was done with ear cartilage.
And the sides of the nose were also shaved down.
It has now been almost 2 months, but the swelling on the sides of the nose and the nose tip do not seem to have gone down properly.
It is still puffy, and I can’t feel any sensation at the tip of my nose...
I heard that drinking alcohol and smoking can cause inflammation in the nose...
Since I had revision nose surgery, I feel even more anxious..

I think the patient must feel very frustrated and anxious.
If it has been about 2 months after surgery, the postoperative swelling should be considered to have mostly gone down.
So if the nose remains swollen, looks red, and there is pain when pressing on the bridge of the nose, inflammation should be suspected.
However, if there are no other symptoms and only the bridge of the nose looks blunt, then it is not inflammation.
The loss of sensation at the nose tip is a separate issue from inflammation and is a phenomenon that occurred during the revision nose surgery process, and it may gradually improve over time.
I understand that because it was revision nose surgery, you may feel even more frustrated, but
in order to find the exact cause, it would be helpful to visit the hospital where you had the surgery and discuss it in detail with the doctor who performed it.
I hope you have a good outcome.
