Hello. I’m Kim Hyung-taek, the director of Kowon Plastic Surgery, specializing in noses.
Today, I’ll be answering a question from someone who had nose surgery using septal cartilage and ear cartilage.

Q. Nose surgery with septal cartilage, can feel the cartilage at the tip..
I had nose surgery, and the tip support? was raised with septal cartilage and ear cartilage.
But the right side of my nose feels weak, so maybe that’s why it’s leaning to the right.
Could it be because the right side of the septal cartilage was used? Also, the whole nose feels weak, moves easily, and its shape keeps changingㅠ What kind of surgical method would that be? When removing septal cartilage for surgery, do you take only one side, either the right or the left?
Also, the swelling at the tip is too much. It’s been a month since surgery, but there’s no sign of it going down. If it’s just a case of swelling going down late, when might it go away?
The left-right asymmetry is also severe. Could that also be because the swelling hasn’t gone down yet?
I can feel the cartilage at the tip very easily when I touch it. Is it common for it to poke through?

The septal cartilage exists only once, inside the nose, in the center.
It does not exist on both sides. A portion of the septal cartilage is harvested and fixed to the end of the septal cartilage to raise the nose.
Therefore, the tip becomes firmer than before surgery, and its shape does not change easily.
If it has been one month since nose surgery, the swelling can be considered to have subsided to some extent.
At this point, there is usually very little swelling left to go down.
If the left-right symmetry is severely off, it would be best to discuss it with the surgeon who performed the procedure.
Also, even if you can feel the cartilage at the tip, that does not mean it will poke through, so there is no need to worry too much.
I hope you get a good result.
