Hello. I’m Kim Hyung-taek, the CEO and lead surgeon of Kowon Plastic Surgery, specializing in rhinoplasty.
This answer note is for someone who is worried about a blunt nasal tip and a nose that spreads out.

Q. My nasal tip is blunt, and my nose spreads out a lot when I smile..
Hello. I have a question about the shape of my nose.
I have a low nasal bridge and a blunt nasal tip, so overall my nose does not give a sharp impression.
Still, until now I had no complaints about my face, but as time goes by, it feels like my nasal tip is getting blunter, and that has been stressing me out.
Because my face shape is round, I don’t think a very high bridge would suit me, so I have no plans to raise the bridge.
However, my nose was already blunt and broad, and it gets even worse when I smile, so I end up avoiding smiling openly. And because I keep worrying about my nose, even my smiling expression looks awkward.
It seems especially bad in photos taken by other people from farther away rather than close up, so I even hesitate to take group photos.
People around me also say they don’t know why I always end up looking like this in photosㅠㅠ
I don’t want a big change from my original face, and I also don’t want it to look obviously operated on, but I want to fix how much my nose spreads out when I smile.
What kind of surgery would be needed in this case? Is there a non-surgical method? Please also tell me the approximate cost.

The cause of the nose spreading when smiling (I know it’s a natural phenomenon, but I feel mine is too severe.)

What kind of surgery can correct it?

Cost
When I look at your photos, if I compare the photo taken while you are still with the photo taken while you are smiling, you can feel that the nasal tip drops slightly downward toward the lips.
If you want to feel it more clearly, place a finger under your nose and smile. You can feel the nasal tip pulling your finger downward.
This is caused by a muscle called the depressor septi nasi, located under the columella, which pulls down the nasal tip and makes the nose spread out.
If this muscle is removed, it can prevent the nose from spreading more when smiling.
The depressor septi nasi muscle acts when you smile, and it can be cut inside the nose without leaving a scar.
If this is done, as mentioned above, it can prevent the nose from spreading out more when smiling.
For cost-related matters, under medical law, I cannot discuss them online.

I hope you have a good result.
Thank you.
