Hello. I am Kim Hyung-taek, CEO and chief surgeon of Kowon Plastic Surgery, pursuing healthy beauty.
Today, I am answering a question from someone who had nose and eye surgery and was worried because an unpleasant smell was coming from inside the nose and wondering whether pus had developed inside the nose.

Q. Bad smell inside the nose after rhinoplasty... Could it be pus inside the nose?
I had bridge augmentation and nostril surgery using ear cartilage about two weeks ago.
Since I was already at it, I also had double eyelid surgery.
About 4 days after the surgery? The swelling had gone down a lot, so my eyes had mostly settled and I looked almost like I had not had surgery at all, and there was no bruising.
But starting two days after the surgery, I noticed an unpleasant smell going down into my throat.
After removing the stitches in my nose and taking out the gauze that had been inside my nose, I came home and felt like something was about to run out of my nose, so I gently blew it.
Then something came out in an ambiguous color mixed with yellow and light green.
It feels like pus inside the nose, and it seems to smell too.
The smell going down the back of my throat is really unpleasant, and there was a little water collecting at the bridge of my nose, making it look crooked, so I had the water drained and received antibiotic injections and oral medication for a week. The bridge area is now completely fine.
But this thing, which seems like either mucus or pus inside the nose, still will not stop.
When I sleep, my nose gets blocked, and at first I thought it was just a cold, so I took antibiotics and thought it would get better.. but.. this happened.. ㅠㅠㅠ

Just from what you said, it is difficult to say exactly where the problem is coming from.
Since it has not been long since the surgery, it would be best to visit the hospital where you had the operation as soon as possible and have a specialist carefully check your current nasal condition.
If there is a smell coming from inside the nose and you think it is pus inside the nose, there may be a possibility of inflammation. Please call the hospital where you had the surgery, explain your current condition, and then visit the hospital for an examination.
I hope you have a good result.
Thank you.
