Hello. I’m Kim Hyung-taek, the CEO and chief surgeon of KOWON Plastic Surgery, where confident and elegant beauty blossoms.
Today’s question is from someone who is worried about side effects after nasal surgery, such as a sound coming from the nose or a change in shape after septal surgery.

Q. My nose makes a sound after septal surgery... Is this a side effect of nose surgery?
I had septal surgery two years ago.
At the same time, I also corrected a hump nose.
The surgery was done using only my own bone, without any implant.
But recently, when I yawn widely or open my mouth wide to eat, it feels like the nasal bone is getting back into place? and my nose makes a sound..
Also, about 6 months to 1 year after the surgery, the shape was slightly different from how it looks now ㅠㅠ
A part of the bridge of my nose seems slightly sunken in.
What should I do?
Is the sound from my nose a failed surgery side effect?
If I need revision surgery, I had such a hard time back then that I honestly feel like I’m going to throw up..ㅠㅠㅠ

For an exact answer, I would need to see the questioner’s condition directly and know what kind of surgery was performed.
From what you’ve described, it seems that the septum was inserted into the nasal tip during surgery for a deviated septum.
In the case of nose surgery, the shape can change slightly after surgery, so this is not considered a side effect.
The sound that occurs when opening the mouth wide or yawning appears to be the sound made when the cartilage collides.
It does not seem to be a side effect, and since the cartilage at the nasal tip seems to be bumping into each other and causing the sound, it may be fine to simply observe it if it is not causing much discomfort.
However, if it is inconvenient in daily life or bothers you, revision surgery may be able to solve it by fixing the cartilage or moving its position.
Also, revision nose surgery may be needed to fill in the slightly sunken part of the bridge.
I hope you get a good result.
Thank you.
