Hello. I am Kim Hyung-taek, the head doctor of Kowon Plastic Surgery Clinic, performing rhinoplasty with honest and delicate techniques.
Today, I’m leaving this question from someone who had their stitches removed after nose surgery, noticed a scab, removed it with a cotton swab, and became concerned about whether any side effects might occur.

Q. Is it okay to use a cotton swab for scabs after nose surgery?
I had nose surgery about a week ago.
My stitches were removed today, and I’m so relieved that the swelling is not severe.
After getting the stitches removed and looking in the mirror at home, I saw a scab on the upper side of the tip of my nostril.
It was so bothersome that I gently rubbed only the scab with a cotton swab, and it seemed like it would come off.
So I gently rubbed the scab and finally grabbed the end with my fingernail and pulled it off...
After that, I was reading posts related to rhinoplasty, and they said it’s not good to put a cotton swab into the nose after surgery.
..
I didn’t insert it deeply; I only gently scratched the scab area at the tip of the nose, so it should be okay, right?
This won’t cause side effects or anything, will it..?
Also, I was told not to exercise for about a month after nose surgery, but is even walking for 20 to 30 minutes not allowed?

If you only gently rubbed and removed the scab with a cotton swab, it is not a major problem.
However, the mucous membrane is still weak at this stage, so there is a risk of bleeding or inflammation if you touch it with a cotton swab, so it is best to avoid touching it as much as possible.
Walking for 20 to 30 minutes is completely fine.
I hope you have a good result.
Thank you.
