Hello. I am Kim Hyung-taek, CEO and head surgeon of KOWON Plastic Surgery, which values harmonious beauty.
Today, this question came from someone who had previously undergone rhinoplasty and used a 4 mm implant for a noble surgery, but was worried because even after the swelling period had passed, the difference before and after seemed minimal.

Q. Noble surgery implant effect: how long is the swelling period?
It has now been exactly two months since I had noble surgery with a silicone implant.
I was told that a 4 mm implant was used.
That height was not something I chose; the doctor who was in charge of me after the surgery said that was what was used.....
At first, I was stressed because of the swelling, but once the swelling period passed and everything went down, it actually looks like the effect is too small.
When an implant is around 4 mm, does the height that appears externally become about 2 mm?
The silicone inserted into the nose shows its height as-is on the outside....
But with noble surgery implants, it feels like that height is not reflected literally....ㅜ
They say the height is 4 mm, but if it feels different in practice, is that because the implant shape is pyramidal?
I wasn't expecting a hugely dramatic result, but if the effect is almost nonexistent like this, I wonder if it was really necessary to spend 2.5 million won on the surgery.
The cost was about twice as high as other places, but I trusted the surgeon because he had a lot of experience and went ahead with it.....
Anyway, it may depend on the case, but if a 4 mm noble surgery implant is used, please let me know whether the externally visible change in volume is less than 2 mm.
I went through a lot to have the surgery, so now I feel disappointed and unsettled.
Please answer.

It seems that you are not satisfied with the result compared to the effort you went through.
If it has been about two months since the surgery, the swelling has subsided to some extent, and there probably will not be any more noticeable changes beyond this point.
What you are asking about seems to be whether even with a 4 mm noble surgery implant, the change that can be felt is not that large in the first place.
As you mentioned, it varies depending on the case and from person to person.
This is because the variables differ greatly depending on factors such as the thickness of the skin where the silicone is placed and the degree of the surrounding muscles.
The nose height is reflected strongly because the skin over the nose is thinner than other areas and the muscles around the nose are not strong, so the implant inside is more directly reflected in the height.
In noble surgery, the skin over the noble area is thicker and the muscles around the mouth are stronger, so the reflected change may be smaller.
If you feel unsettled and disappointed by the result, please discuss your current condition thoroughly with the doctor who performed the surgery at the clinic where you had the procedure.
Excessively large implants can cause a monkey-like appearance, and I think you may have felt some degree of nasal spreading during the swelling period.
Therefore, the key seems to be finding the maximum height that does not cause such an appearance.
I hope you get a good result.
I hope this consultation reply was helpful.
Thank you.

This is a case where the nose felt shorter after bulbous nose surgery. Because the nasolabial angle was narrow, the mouth looked more protruded, but as the nasolabial angle was improved, the overall side profile of the face became more three-dimensional.

This person had relatively little three-dimensionality in the face. As with a weak chin, when improving the mid and lower face, noble surgery may be considered together.
After the surgery, you can see that the side profile is well balanced.

This is a case of someone with a broad nose. With the help of the septal cartilage and rhinoplasty implant, it changed into a more three-dimensional and elegant bridge.
