Hello. I am Kim Hyung-taek, CEO of Kowon Plastic Surgery, designing beauty even from the side profile.
This time, this is a case from someone who was curious about how long the results would last after surgery and asked out of concern that nasal surgery inflammation might occur.

Q. Nasal surgery inflammation: Is Gore-Tex implants with ear cartilage at the tip okay?
0
When I had surgery, ear cartilage was used for the tip of the nose, and Gore-Tex implants were used for the bridge.
I lived for about 5 years without any problems, but I keep hearing things like rhinoplasty needs to be replaced every 10 years, or that after 5 years inflammation develops and it has to be removed. So now that it’s almost been 5 years, I’m worried.
It felt so much like my own nose that I didn’t pay much attention to it, so I blew my nose forcefully and used it without worrying. But is there really such a thing as an expiration date?
At the time, Gore-Tex implants were very popular, but recently I’ve seen people use silicone again or have surgery done in other ways.
I’m also worried that maybe they stopped using Gore-Tex because it’s not a common material and is dangerous, and I’m anxious about nasal surgery inflammation that could come at any time.
Also, when I hold my nose and gently twist it left and right, it makes a cracking sound. It doesn’t hurt, though.
Could this also be related to inflammation or future problems? I keep worrying because of those 5 years.
I don’t want to keep doing this for the rest of my life. Is it difficult to maintain it for decades without problems?

Nose surgery does not need to be redone after a certain period of time. Many people go more than 20 years after one surgery without any problems.
Of course, nasal surgery inflammation can occur at any time, but if it is not the early postoperative period, the likelihood of inflammation is not high.
And twisting the nose left and right to make a cracking sound is not good.
If there is no special reason, do not twist your nose or deliberately make sounds; if you live without worrying, you will likely be able to go decades without problems.
I hope you have a good outcome.

This person previously had a tip cartilage tying procedure once.
The nose is not wide, but the shape is crooked.
After surgery using rib cartilage and a rib graft implant, the feeling that the mouth looked protruded also improved significantly.

This is a case of contracture nose surgery using autologous rib cartilage.
It was said that about a year after surgery, signs of contracture appeared.
After the autologous rib cartilage surgery, the crooked nose was straightened.

This was a case where deviated septum was a concern.
Even visually, the sizes of the nostrils were different.
After nostril lowering surgery, the nose line became smoother.
