Hello, I’m Kim Hyung-taek, Director of Kowon Plastic Surgery.
The nose is at the center of the face, making it an important area that determines not only appearance but also balance and harmony.
Because of this, even after nasal surgery, people can become sensitive to minor changes, swelling, or inflammatory reactions.
In particular, when inflammation occurs some time after surgery, it is necessary to distinguish it from a simple skin problem.
Today, based on an actual inquiry, we will look at how to tell whether a situation requires revisional surgery for nasal inflammation.

Q.
I had rhinoplasty three years ago, using silicone for the bridge and septal cartilage for the tip.
A few days ago, something that looked like a pimple appeared near the columella, and now, after about 3 to 4 days, it has become redder and more swollen.
It has also gotten larger, and on the surface it looks like a pimple that has come to a head, but there is no pain when I touch my nose.
I am currently applying Esebans ointment. Could these symptoms be nasal inflammation from rhinoplasty, or a situation that requires revisional surgery for nasal inflammation?

A.
Hello. This is Kim Hyung-taek, a consulting physician on HiDoc-Naver Knowledge iN.
From the photo, an inflammatory reaction appears to be present on the skin of the columellar area.
It is difficult to make a definitive judgment without directly checking the bridge or internal structure,
but at this point, it is more likely to be inflammation on the skin surface rather than inside the nose.
In other words, it is more likely a simple skin inflammation than inflammation related to rhinoplasty.
In such cases, it is not yet time to consider revisional surgery for nasal inflammation,
and continuing to apply the antibiotic ointment as you are doing now may be helpful.
However, if the symptoms do not improve within a few days or if the swelling becomes severe,
it would be best to visit the medical facility where the surgery was performed for an evaluation.
Because the nasal area is sensitive and the pattern of inflammation can vary depending on the recovery process,
an accurate examination is needed rather than self-diagnosis.
To prevent inflammation after rhinoplasty, it is important not to irritate the area
and to keep it clean.
Through ongoing care and checkups, it is best to prevent revisional surgery for nasal inflammation from becoming necessary.
At present, the inflammation appears to be localized,
and it does not seem to be a structural problem caused by rhinoplasty.
If possible, I recommend visiting the clinic where the surgery was performed and receiving professional medical care.
I hope you recover quickly and have a good outcome.

Hello. I’m Kim Hyung-taek, Chief Director of Kowon Plastic Surgery, specializing in male rhinoplasty in Gangnam.
Today, we will look at the changes before and after surgery through a case of a man who underwent septoplasty.
The shape of the nose varies subtly from person to person, and the form that best harmonizes with the face can differ.
Therefore, during surgery, natural balance and proportion are more important than simply adjusting height or length.

Above all, bringing out each person’s strengths is a key element in male rhinoplasty in Gangnam.
Looking at the condition before septoplasty, there did not appear to be any major structural problems,
but from the side, the tip of the nose looked short and slightly shifted to one side.
To improve this imbalance and align the face’s central line, male revision rhinoplasty was performed.

The surgery focused on creating a natural and harmonious shape while preserving the original nose shape as much as possible.
In this case, because the septum was slightly deviated, there was a possibility of functional discomfort in the nose.
Accordingly, the tip was elevated and the center of the cartilage was straightened to create a stable structure.
This approach can be considered a representative method in Gangnam male rhinoplasty that takes both function and aesthetic harmony into account.

After completing male revision rhinoplasty and septoplasty, comparing the before-and-after images
shows that the line has been improved to a natural and not overdone degree.
It also had a positive effect on breathing function, not just appearance,
and this was in line with the goals of Gangnam male rhinoplasty: natural harmony and functional recovery.

Looking at the results of male revision rhinoplasty from the front,
the center of the previously crooked nostrils regained balance, improving overall symmetry.
The nostrils, which had appeared wide, were also brought inward toward the center, making the masculine impression more distinct.
In this way, Gangnam male rhinoplasty focuses not on simple changes in appearance, but on balancing the entire face.

From the bottom view, the angle of the tip and the position of the nostrils were adjusted, making the before-and-after difference clearly visible.
In addition, the septoplasty straightened the previously crooked bridge, keeping the center stably aligned.
This result reflects an approach that corrected the nasal structure without strain while preserving a natural look.

From the side, the previously uneven hump on the bridge was smoothed out,
changing it into a straight line that gives a masculine and refined impression.
The short nasal tip was sufficiently lengthened through septoplasty to improve the proportion,
and this was a case with high satisfaction thanks to the balanced result.

Through this case, we looked at the actual changes achieved with male rhinoplasty in Gangnam.
Because nose-related surgery must consider not only appearance but also functional aspects,
it is important to plan in a direction suited to your facial structure and image.
