Hello, I’m Kim Hyeong-taek, Director of Kowon Plastic Surgery.
The nose is located at the center of the face, so even small changes can have a major effect on the overall impression.
In particular, the nose tip is an area that repeatedly receives movement and pressure, so over time after surgery, its shape may change slightly.
Because of this, many people become worried even about small changes that appear at the nose tip after rhinoplasty.
Today, based on an actual inquiry case, let’s take a look at what minor changes that can occur before and after hump nose surgery may mean.

Q.
It has been about 2 years since I had the hump reduced and my nose reconstructed with silicone and ear cartilage.
It doesn’t stand out very much, but I’m worried because it feels indented where the silicone and ear cartilage meet.
Why does this happen…?
It seems natural at times, but at other times it doesn’t, so I’m concerned.

Hello. This is Kim Hyeong-taek, a consultant on HiDoc-Naver Knowledge iN.
From the photo, it does not look severe.
The nose tip area after rhinoplasty is a place with a lot of movement, so depending on facial expressions and muscle action,
the cartilage and soft tissue may be compressed and that area can look slightly sunken.
Also, as time passes and the nose tip line stabilizes,
this kind of feeling may appear.
This is a change that is often observed before and after hump nose surgery as well,
and it does not necessarily indicate any particular problem.
However, if the appearance of the nose tip looking sunken is bothering you,
it may help to consult the specialist who performed the surgery
and check whether any additional correction is needed.
The current situation may be a temporary change that can occur before and after hump nose surgery,
or a change due to individual tissue differences,
so there is no need to be overly anxious.
I hope you get a good result.
Thank you.

Hello. I’m Kim Hyeong-taek, the chief director of Kowon Plastic Surgery, who helps balance the overall flow of the facial features.
Depending on what type of nose a person has, the overall image of the face can change significantly.
Today, I’d like to introduce a case handled at Kowon, a place known for doing good nose surgery in Gangnam, in which a crooked hump nose was corrected with hump osteotomy.
I will compare the before-and-after results and explain in detail how the correction was performed.
The female patient we are looking at this time had a pronounced hump and a nose that was crooked to one side, making the difference in nostril size noticeable.

In cases like this, a crooked hump nose often has uneven height in the base of the nose, which can make the surgery more difficult.
Also, even if it looks well corrected right after surgery, there is a possibility that it may shift again over time, so caution is needed.
From the patient’s perspective, since they want the result to last for a long time after one surgery, even more careful planning is required.
Now I will continue by explaining how the approach was taken.

Looking at the preoperative photo, the nose is significantly crooked even from the front,
and with this degree of deviation, a deviated septum is also likely to be present.
At this Gangnam nose surgery clinic known for good results, a correction plan centered on hump osteotomy was established
to correct the crooked hump nose,
and during this process, the possibility that there might not be enough septal cartilage to use as a graft was also considered.

If there is insufficient cartilage, ear cartilage can be used as a supplement,
and the surgery was performed after providing a thorough explanation of this.
Looking at the photos taken shortly after the hump nose surgery at this Gangnam nose surgery clinic,
swelling and redness are still present, but this is a natural part of the recovery process and will settle over time.
You can see that the crooked nose line has been corrected into a straight shape,
and the width and shape of the nostrils have also become much more balanced than before.

In the 45-degree side view, you can see that the newly shaped nose line
connects much more naturally and smoothly.

In the side profile, the hump that had been protruding in the middle of the nose disappears,
resulting in an overall harmonious nose shape.
Since the patient’s original bridge was not especially low,
we adjusted the height slightly while also correcting the downward rotation of the nose tip.
Because the nose tip may become slightly lower over time after surgery, at this Gangnam nose surgery clinic,
we design it with long-term satisfaction in mind,
even making it feel slightly higher at first.
In this process, resection of the depressor septi nasi muscle was performed as well.

Comparing the photos taken from below,
you can see that after surgery, the size and shape of the nostrils have been corrected in a balanced way.
Overall, the result changed to a softer, more feminine impression,
and the patient was very satisfied with the outcome.
If you have concerns about the shape of your own nose or are considering improvements,
please consider requesting a consultation at Kowon, a Gangnam nose surgery clinic that carefully analyzes each person’s structure
and suggests the most natural result.
