Hello, I’m Dr. Kim Hyeong-taek, Director of Kwon Plastic Surgery Clinic.
A hump nose can commonly develop due to trauma or during growth, and because even small changes can greatly affect one’s impression, many people report feeling stressed about it.
In particular, men most often ask whether it is possible to achieve a natural correction without silicone and without making it look obvious.
Today, based on actual consultation cases, I will explain in an easy way how natural correction can be achieved in male hump nose surgery.

Q.
Looking at photos from elementary school, I didn’t have a hump nose at all, but after entering middle school and getting hit on the nose a few times while playing basketball and soccer, my nose seems to have started becoming crooked.
When I feel it, it doesn’t seem like only the bridge is protruding; the part where the bone transitions into cartilage seems to bend downward, and it also looks slightly tilted to the left.
Because I was worried about it, I kept touching my nose habitually, and I think the skin on the tip of my nose has also stretched.
My parents say that even celebrities have hump noses these days, so there’s no need for plastic surgery, but this is a big source of stress for me, and I’m always careful because I worry it could get worse if I hit it again.
I don’t want an artificial implant like silicone, and I don’t want the bridge made extremely high either.
I just want the bent cartilage area lifted back into its original position naturally so the line looks smoother.
Also, I’m worried that if a man gets nose surgery, it will be obvious. I’m also curious whether being able to return to daily life after 1–2 weeks really means it won’t be noticeable.
There are so many things I need to know, so I’d appreciate your help.

Hello. I’m Kim Hyeong-taek, a plastic surgery consultant on HiDoc-Naver Knowledge iN.
This is also one of the questions men ask most often when looking for a good place for male rhinoplasty.
Most hump noses already have a relatively high bridge, so in male hump nose surgery, the hump can be corrected naturally by simply shaving down the hump or slightly lifting the bent, downward-sloping tip.
A method that does not use silicone is also possible, so creating the natural line you want is relatively straightforward.
From the perspective of a good place for male rhinoplasty, about one week after surgery the major swelling subsides and daily life becomes possible.
In particular, if the male hump nose surgery is performed without silicone, it is barely noticeable, so most people do not feel burdened when returning to work or school.
In male cosmetic surgery, naturalness is the most important factor,
so correcting only the desired areas without making excessive changes to the tip or bridge is a safe method that is often used even at good places for male rhinoplasty.
A natural line correction is fully possible,
so the exact condition should be determined after an examination, and you do not need to worry too much.
I hope you get the result you want.

From the front, it is clear that the bridge is significantly curved to one side.
During surgery, correction is performed as much as possible, but due to structural characteristics, there are cases where 100% perfect correction is difficult,
and even if it is corrected at first, a mild curve may reappear over time.
Therefore, continuous follow-up observation is definitely necessary in this type of case.

From the front, you can see that the bridge, which had been deviated to one side before surgery,
has been corrected into a straight shape.

This is the view from a 45-degree angle.
The hump protruding from the center of the nose was appropriately smoothed and removed,
and it was refined to create a smoother line.

The spread-out tip cartilage was brought together with tip cartilage suturing surgery to improve it into a narrower shape,
and septal cartilage was added on top of it to stably raise the height of the nasal tip.

Because the area between the eyebrows was originally lower compared to the bridge,
we crushed the harvested cartilage and grafted it to the glabella area to add volume.
As a result, a much softer and naturally connected line was created,
and the nasal tip also became a more stable shape, as if it had returned to its proper place.
