During the recovery period after nasal surgery, small changes can occur inside the nose, and many people worry whether it is inflammation or part of the normal healing process.
Today, I’ll briefly explain how to judge it when a bump inside the nose or something that looks like a cyst appears around 2 to 3 weeks after surgery.

Q.
It has now been just over 2 weeks since my nasal surgery, and I’m almost at the 3-week mark (17 days). But I keep getting runny nose, so I’ve been touching inside my nostrils a lot.
As a result, something has formed that looks like a round bump on the inner side near the triangle area, above the nasal cartilage. It doesn’t hurt, and it isn’t red, but… I’m not sure whether it is inflammation or a cyst.
-
Can smoking cause inflammation after nasal surgery?
-
It looks like a cyst, but how is it treated at the hospital?
-
Do I need surgery, or can it be resolved with medication? I’m also wondering about the treatment cost.

Hello.
This is Kim Hyung-taek, a plastic surgery consultant at Hidoc-Naver Knowledge iN.
From the information provided, the possibility of inflammation after nasal surgery does not seem very high. If there is no pain and no red swelling, it may be a temporary tissue change that appears during the recovery period after nasal surgery.
However, inflammation after nasal surgery can sometimes show only mild symptoms in the early stage, so it is difficult to rule out the possibility entirely. Therefore, it is best to have the surgery site checked directly at the hospital where you had the procedure.
If it is inflammation after nasal surgery,
may be used as treatment.
However, during the recovery period after nasal surgery, tissue swelling that looks like a cyst can occur, so in many cases surgery is not necessary. An accurate judgment can only be made through an in-person examination, and a specialist can immediately tell whether it is a common phenomenon during the recovery period after nasal surgery.
I hope you get a good result. Thank you.

Hello. I am Kim Hyung-taek, CEO of Kowon Plastic Surgery, a well-known rhinoplasty clinic that carefully refines the balance of facial features. Today, I’d like to introduce a case of revision rhinoplasty using autologous rib cartilage, which was especially difficult among rhinoplasty reviews. Because there had been multiple previous surgeries, there were structural difficulties, and I will explain the process in detail along with actual before-and-after photos.

The patient had their first surgery about 7 years ago using donated rib cartilage, ear cartilage, and silicone, and even after reconstructive surgery later, they returned to Kowon, a well-known rhinoplasty clinic, because they were not satisfied with the result.
After thorough consultation, we decided to proceed with revision of the revision rhinoplasty. In the previous surgery, the dorsal hump had not been properly refined, so when touched by hand it did not feel smooth, and the whole nose still looked short.

The middle part of the bridge showed clear unevenness and a bumpy line, and the nostrils were also slightly asymmetrical. Since this patient had already used donated rib cartilage in the first surgery, we recommended rhinoplasty using autologous rib cartilage for a more stable result.

The patient wanted a nose line that was slightly more glamorous yet slimmer. Accordingly, we performed osteotomy to neatly refine the bridge and dorsal hump, and carried out the revision of the revision rhinoplasty using autologous rib particles instead of silicone for the implant.

The result of the revision of the revision rhinoplasty performed at the well-known Kowon clinic was very successful.
From the front, the bridge that had looked wide became clearly narrower, and from the view underneath, you can see that the tip of the nose was lifted more distinctly. The desired “thin and refined nasal tip” was also achieved naturally.

The line from the glabella to the nasal tip is noticeably straighter and higher than before. In particular, the side profile shows improved proportions of the nasolabial angle and columella, creating a more harmonious and refined nose shape.

This is the appearance after surgery performed with autologous rib cartilage at the well-known Kowon clinic. The nasal bridge was raised naturally, and because autologous rib cartilage tends to be absorbed by about 10 to 20%, it was designed slightly higher at the beginning.

This is the appearance one month after surgery. There is still some swelling, but as time passes, the tissue stabilizes and a more natural line settles in. In most cases, the final shape stabilizes after about 6 months, and the nose is one of the areas with very high satisfaction.
If you have been stressed about your nose, please feel free to come in for a consultation anytime.
