Pre- and Post-Progress of Facial Liposuction Swelling at 2 Months

Today, let’s look at the changes in facial liposuction swelling.

A double chin can naturally develop with age, but even among younger people, it is not uncommon for it to appear due to various factors such as body type and lifestyle habits.

Double chin liposuction is one way to effectively address this concern, and it can help create a clear, sharp jawline quite simply.

However, swelling after double chin liposuction is inevitable, so it is important to fully understand facial liposuction swelling before and after surgery and know how to manage it!!!

Fat is not a single mass but is made up of multiple layers.

So for satisfying results, it must be performed by medical staff who can properly distinguish between fat layers that can be treated and those that should not be touched.

But if you are tempted by a low price and do not consider the medical staff’s expertise, experience, or surgical approach, various side effects such as adhesions, indentations, and uneven lines... can occur.

I have also seen many patients who suffered from various side effects and underwent revision surgery, and every time I saw such patients, I felt deeply sorry for them.

The patient above had a double chin visible from both the front and the side, but especially sought our clinic because the double chin was severe from the front and side.

The patient had a large amount of subcutaneous fat in the jawline and under-chin area, and the platysma surrounding this fat layer was sagging downward.

Because the subcutaneous fat layer had sagged down toward the neck, making the neck line unclear, the neck looked short and the face looked broad. So the surgery was performed to sharpen the jawline and create an angle under the chin, so it would appear as a sharp V-line.

Surgical plan

Liposuction: double chin liposuction + muscle tightening + salivary gland tightening + skin excision

Fat grafting: forehead, under-eye, nasolabial fold areas

One week later, front/side

These are the patient’s front and side images one week later.

There is swelling and bruising, but compared to before surgery, the double chin has significantly reduced, and the facial line looks much more refined.

Because the patient did not have much bleeding, there was yellowish bruising instead of dark bruising, and recovery was also fast.

Sometimes, patients want excessive liposuction because they want a more dramatic before-and-after difference.

To be clear, excessive liposuction is not allowed!!!!!!

If too much facial liposuction is performed, the chance of side effects such as uneven skin or indentations increases, so it is important to remove fat while considering the individual patient’s skin thickness and amount of fat.

One month later, front/side

As one month passed, all minor swelling had subsided.

The lower jaw and neck line became more defined, and the angle under the chin became clearer, so the facial line looks smoother and sharper than before.

This is the most important period, because it is the time when the area can feel the hardest and slightly swollen.

As this period passes, the tissue in the suctioned area gradually softens, and stretching becomes possible naturally^^

Two months later, front/side

As two months passed, swelling had reduced by about 80%.

As you can see, the double chin that was clearly visible from the front and side has improved.

The facial line also became more refined, making it look more feminine than before.

Today, we took time to look at facial liposuction swelling through an actual patient case.

For younger patients, if sagging of the double chin is the concern, good results may be achieved with double chin liposuction and muscle tightening.

Before surgery / One week later / One month later / Two months later

As in the patient case we looked at today, if the double chin is severe because not only the skin but also muscle sagging is present, double chin liposuction and muscle tightening need to be performed together in order to achieve good results.

So if you are concerned about a double chin, through a thorough consultation,

whether your case involves a lot of fat, whether the muscles are also sagging, whether the salivary glands are enlarged, whether a small chin makes the area appear saggy, and so on..

it will be very helpful to accurately identify the various causes before deciding on surgery.
