Why the under-eye area looks even more tired: your under-eye surgery may have gone wrong

Under-eye surgery is a complex procedure that addresses dark circles, protruding fat, and hollowness

at the same time.

But not every surgery

can be perfect from the start!!!

Due to insufficient fat repositioning, asymmetry, overcorrection, residual hollowness,

or volume changes that occur over time,

some patients come back

to the hospital...

In particular, the skin under the eyes is thin, moves a lot,

and directly shows facial expressions and emotions,

so even a slight difference in design can

make a big difference in appearance.

So today, through a case of revision surgery for

under-eye fat repositioning in a patient who visited our clinic, we’ll look at

This patient is in their mid-20s and came from China.

They had undergone under-eye fat repositioning at another hospital 5 years ago,

and said they were very satisfied at first.

But as time passed,

the under-eye area became uneven...

and the dark circles came back as well...

After thinking about whether or not to have revision surgery for quite some time,

they visited us after seeing reviews of our under-eye surgery^^

When we checked the patient’s condition at the time of the visit,

there was an imbalance in the left and right fat repositioning,

and we could confirm that the tear trough was still

deeply defined under the eyes.

The surgical plan involved dissecting and repositioning the incorrectly placed tissue from the previous surgery,

then redesigning the area in a three-dimensional way.

The reason for doing the surgery this way is that under-eye surgery

is not only more difficult in revision cases compared to the first surgery,

but also requires a different approach~^^

After one month, most of the swelling under the eyes had gone down,

and as the fat settled to some extent,

this is the stage when the under-eye contours become more defined!!!

In this patient’s case, before surgery the degree of symmetry in the aegyo-sal on the left and right sides

was clearly different,

and the dark circles under the eyes were prominent, creating a hollow,

tired-looking impression.

But at the one-month follow-up,

we confirmed that the left-right asymmetry had eased to some extent,

and the aegyo-sal and under-eye area were smoothly connected,

making it look much more natural^^

The eyes, which had looked hollow before, now give a much softer

and more stable impression~

Finally, here is the 4-month result.

At this stage, the repositioned fat has stably settled into the transplanted area,

and even when blinking or moving the eyes,

the movement looks natural without any pulling.

The patient also said that after surgery,

even with less makeup, they no longer looked tired,

and that people around them kept saying their image looked very different lately

and that their facial expression seemed much brighter,

so they felt they had changed in a very positive way these days^^

I was also very happy to be able to bring a positive change to the patient~^^

Under-eye surgery may seem like a simple procedure of repositioning

and removing fat,

but it is a procedure that requires anatomical understanding and delicate skill.

Uneven under-eyes that appear over time, left-right asymmetry, awkward smiles, a tired-looking impression...

All of these can lead not only to cosmetic concerns,

but also to complex issues that affect confidence and appearance!!!

So revision surgery is not just

‘fixing it again,’

but a precise redesign that restores the detailed balance that was not fully addressed in the previous surgery

and brings back the original impression the patient wanted.

Because the under-eye area holds emotion,

even the smallest difference can have a big impact on how someone looks.

Please don’t be too anxious just because it’s called revision surgery.
