Is it possible to have double chin surgery and witch chin correction at the same time?

Every time you look in the mirror, do you feel stressed because the tip of your chin sticks out sharply,

and from the side, the chin seems to drop down long and low?

When you clench your jaw, it gets even worse....

This kind of symptom is commonly called a

“witch chin.”

Just hearing the name probably makes you imagine a chin that looks large

and sagging, doesn’t it?

Anatomical structure of a witch chin

This witch chin not only makes the face

look longer,

but can also give a tired, aging appearance,

so it is an area of major concern... A witch chin is often not just a cosmetic issue,

but an anatomical problem caused by

the skeletal structure of the chin tip

or an imbalance in the soft tissue!!!

The main causes are:

• Excess fat accumulation in the chin tip area

• Sagging of the chin tip soft tissue after contour surgery

• Excessive injection of fillers or foreign substances (non-dissolving ingredients)

into the chin tip

The resulting problems are:

• If submental fat accumulates excessively,

it looks like a double chin.

• The tension in the chin tip muscle (mentalis muscle)

increases.

• The chin tip takes on the appearance of a protruding “witch chin.”

If only liposuction is performed,

the chin tip may appear even more prominent,

and the jawline may become sharper and more unnatural. In particular, a witch chin accompanied by a recessed chin,

or a case where only the chin tip is overly developed,

may be difficult to correct with filler alone,

and a surgical approach may be needed!!!!

So today, based on a witch chin correction case,

I’ll share the before-and-after progress in detail.^^

Front/side view before surgery

This is a patient in their mid-30s from Japan.

They had undergone double chin liposuction a few years ago,

but came to the clinic because the witch chin made their impression look sharp

and strong. When we checked the patient’s condition before surgery,

the double chin visible from the front and side was not severe,

but because of the witch chin, the face looked longer,

and the chin tip protruded downward,

giving a sharp and strong impression. So, for the double chin surgery, we planned to improve the witch chin at the same time through skin excision.

Surgical plan

lipo (double chin re)+double chin muscle plication+salivary gland plication+skin excision (simultaneous witch chin improvement),

Fat (forehead, temples, nasolabial folds, both cheeks, eyelids)

Front/side view after 2 months

This is the appearance after 2 months.

It looks like about 90% of the swelling has gone down!

Even from the front, the jawline appears

to have become shorter vertically compared to before surgery.

From the side as well, the chin and jawline become more streamlined without curves,

making the overall image softer

and more natural.^^

Front/side view after 3 months

This is the final appearance after 3 months.

If you look at the side view, the jawline that was emphasized

and unnatural before surgery now connects naturally,

so the patient was very satisfied.^^

After surgery, they also heard from people around them things like

you seem brighter and kinder,

your impression has definitely changed,

and they said they like their face so much now

that they no longer cover their chin when taking photos.^^

Even people who were simply worried about a double chin,

or those who have a witch chin they didn’t even realize they had,

often don’t know where or how to begin improving it!!!

So,

if you have both a double chin and a witch chin,

you should consider a procedure that improves the witch chin at the same time

through the same incision area as the double chin surgery.
