Front view before/after surgery
Hello.
I am Director Lee Won of 21 Plastic Surgery.
After double chin surgery, most patients
recover little by little with some degree of hardness and unevenness,
but in some cases, if there is blood accumulation or inflammation,
the recovery may be a bit slower, and there are also cases where people go through the healing process with bumpy, folded skin...
Today, I will explain how recovery changes depending on the course after double chin surgery. ^^

Front/90-degree view before surgery
First, if you look at a patient who has undergone a normal recovery process,
before surgery, the boundary between the chin and neck is unclear,
and the double chin is prominent.

Front/90-degree view 1 week after surgery
After that, through double chin surgery, the angle under the chin is smoothly corrected,
and because there was little bleeding during surgery, a yellowish bruise
is observed temporarily.

Front/90-degree view 1 month after surgery
One month after surgery,
the yellow bruise has almost disappeared,
and you can see that the angle has improved further.
However, at the one-month mark, patients often seem worried
and ask many questions about the recovery process.
At times like that, there is something I explain.
During the recovery period, the skin becomes the hardest,
and this one-month stage is when even turning the head feels difficult.
These changes are part of the temporary tissue regeneration process,
so patients do not need to be anxious.
After that, it gradually improves over the next 2 to 3 months,
so there is no need to worry. ^^

Front/90-degree view 2 months after surgery
Two months after surgery,
the contour and neckline become increasingly defined,
and a line that is clearly different from before surgery begins to appear.
Then, by the third month, most of the swelling is gone,
and things settle into place to some extent.
The jawline and the balanced angle between the neck and chin
show a stable pattern of settling in.
So far, along with the patient’s case,
I have explained the course of normal double chin recovery.
However, in cases with a lot of bleeding, inflammation, or infection,
blood may pool, or abnormal tissue changes may occur.

Over time, blood is naturally absorbed,
but the skin becomes uneven and bumpy,
and the overall course also worsens.
That is why the most important point in double chin surgery is
minimizing bleeding!!
If bleeding during surgery is minimal,
swelling and bruising subside quickly, and recovery is faster.

So at 21 Plastic Surgery,
we place importance on a precise surgical protocol that clearly reduces bleeding
before and after surgery.
In particular, for female patients,
we recommend adjusting the surgery schedule to avoid the menstrual period,
and we also advise temporarily stopping blood circulation improvers or supplements.

Double chin surgery
requires evaluation of various structures such as fat, muscle, skin, and salivary glands,
as well as specialized postoperative recovery management!!!
If there is abnormal recovery (bleeding, infection, unevenness, etc.),
careful monitoring and treatment are absolutely necessary,
so do not worry and feel free to consult a specialist anytime.^^
