A Case of Reducing Face Width With Three Contouring Procedures

Hello.

I’m Lee Won, the chief surgeon at 21 Plastic Surgery.

Even if someone’s face looks large,

the face is not always long.

In fact, during consultations,

there are many people who are concerned because their face appears wider horizontally rather than vertically.

The patient introduced today is also a case

in which the broad width of the face was a concern.

In this patient’s case,

the cheekbones were developed outward,

and the mandibular angle (square jaw) was also relatively broad,

creating an overall facial structure that looked wide from side to side.

In such cases, rather than correcting only one area,

a full-face approach that considers the overall width is necessary.

So the surgical plan was as follows.

Three contouring procedures (cheekbones + square jaw + T osteotomy) + buccal fat removal

7 days after surgery,

this is still a period when significant swelling remains,

but as the cheekbone and mandibular angle lines begin to settle,

you can see that the contour changes have started.

1 month after surgery,

as the initial swelling has gone down significantly,

the overall horizontal width of the face becomes more refined,

and the jawline begins to look slimmer.

From this stage onward,

many people feel that the face looks smaller than before surgery.

3 months after surgery,

as most of the swelling has stabilized,

the contour line from the cheekbones to the jawline

has settled in naturally.

As the face that once looked wide horizontally becomes more refined,

you can see that it has changed into a slimmer and more balanced

facial shape overall.

Contour surgery is

not simply a procedure to reduce bone,

but a process of reconstructing the lines while considering

the proportions and balance of the entire face.

The reason a face looks wide

is also often due to a combination of factors,

such as the cheekbones, jaw, and volume,

so an accurate analysis and plan tailored to each person’s facial structure is important.
