Hello~
I’m Jang Tae-hyun, the chief director of Seoul Bardi Dental Clinic!!
When consulting on implants,
a question I hear over and over again is, “Do I really have to get a bone graft?”
“Can’t I just skip it?”
Some people even think it’s unnecessary and that it’s over-treatmentㅠ
Gangdong-gu bone graft implant: You may think it’s excessive, but here is the truth
Since bone grafting comes with an additional cost,
I think many people feel burdened by it.
Because it isn’t visible as gum bone,
it’s even harder to check directly.

Bone grafting means filling the area where bone is missing with bone powder.
Is bone grafting really necessary for implants?
There are people who do not need a bone graft,
but if we simply proceed without it, the implant may fail,
or may not function properly,
or could cause major problems within a few years.
That is why I explain it when it is needed.
The word “bone graft” itself may feel unfamiliar,
and you may not understand why it is needed even though there is gum bone.
You may also not know what materials are used..
To put it simply,
bone grafting can be said to be the foundation of implant success.

230630 If there is no bone, we cannot place it into empty spaceㅠㅠ
An implant is a treatment that places and secures an artificial tooth root inside the jawbone.
However, if the gum bone melts away due to inflammation, it does not recover 100%!
Just as Styrofoam melts when it comes into contact with hot water,
a return to the original state is difficult.
You cannot see the inside of the gums with your eyes,
but it can be identified through X-ray~

The skull bones we imagine are white.
Bone is made of calcium and phosphorus,
and it has a high density.
When gum bone has melted away, it becomes an empty space,
and because the density is lower,
it appears black compared to the surrounding gum bone.
It can be checked with a panoramic X-ray,
and CT is even more accurate.
Even the depressions can be seen.

When the gums are actually opened,
there are holes and depressions just as shown on the CT.
An implant can still be placed in this condition,
but what will happen later?
Even for people who take very good care of them,
after implant surgery the bone height gradually decreases a little each year.
According to papers, it is about 0.1 mm to 0.2 mm per year.
If care is not adequate, it goes down faster.
As time passes, if there is not enough bone to support the implant,
it becomes more likely to loosen or come outㅠㅠ
Especially in the case of the upper jaw bone, it is thin and weak.
Its bone component is called cancellous bone,
so it is a bone quality with lots of holes everywhere~~~

So because of this structural difference,
when numbing the upper teeth, even a small amount works quickly,
but when extracting a lower wisdom tooth,
because it is made of dense bone,
you have to numb half of the mandible.
I got a bit technical for a moment.
It’s really hard to explain simply. 🙄
Bone grafting is not just an optional step for implants!!!!
I am recommending it to improve the long-term stability and success rate of the implant.
Bone grafting must be done properly when it is done
Of course, bone grafting cannot be done after surgery.
An implant is placed into bone,
and the process requires the implant and the bone to integrate.
If a bone graft is done, time is needed for it to turn into your own bone...
Opening the gums again in the surgical area
is a very bad choice...
and it does not form good bone either.
So reinforcement has to be done from the start!! before proceeding.
After building a building,
it is not easy to redo the foundation work~
Once an implant is placed, it should be used for at least 10 years,
so it has to be done right from the beginning!!!
Bone graft materials are harmless to the human body.
There are also many types of bone graft materials~
It is not your own bone,
but artificial bone or bone from other animals is used.
It has been used safely for decades,
and it does not cause allergic reactions.
The type of bone material is chosen appropriately depending on the surgical site and the defect area.

For Gangdong-gu bone graft implants, we use Bio-Oss products.
It is the world’s No. 1 product...
It is the most expensive.. and it has excellent results.
A piece about the size of a thumbnail costs over 100,000 won..
If something sells a lot, that means its safety has been proven,
and there is also a lot of data.
There are many cheaper low-cost products,
but since this is used in the human body,
I don’t really feel comfortable using the low-cost ones,,,
Anyway, after being diagnosed that a Gangdong-gu bone graft implant is needed,
if you are wondering,
“Is it really necessary?”
please visit anytime!
I will show you the X-ray and CT,
and while explaining, I will show you everything, including the areas where there is no bone during the actual surgery~
Because this is a blog seen by many people,
it is regrettable that I cannot upload actual photos.
Thank you!!😊
