Hello!
I’m Director Jang Tae-hyun of Seoul Bardi Dental Clinic.
Since an implant is not your natural tooth,
you need to have it checked regularly.
We provide checkups on a regular schedule: one month after the prosthesis is placed,
then every 3 months and every 6 months.
Even if there are no abnormalities,
even if there is no discomfort,
3 Reasons You Should Definitely Come in for a Godeok-dong Implant Checkup
I’ll explain.

3 Reasons Why Implant Checkups Are Essential
An implant is an excellent treatment option that replaces a natural tooth,
but it still requires ongoing care after the procedure.
If it is not managed properly, problems can occur.
Something that could last 5 more years
can also break down much sooner.
The items checked right after the prosthesis is completed are different.

Visit one month after implant prosthesis completion
- Check the implant height
Although we clearly complete the prosthesis, check the height, and send you on your way..
there are people who later say, “It doesn’t feel right when I chew after a few months.”
In reality, the Godeok-dong implant height may have lowered slightly.
This happens more often when multiple implants are placed
than when only one implant is done.
This phenomenon is called sink down.
What is implant sink down?
It’s like a sinkhole forming a hole in the road, right?

The implant height can also lower!!
This refers to the phenomenon in which the implant gradually settles downward into the jawbone.
In other words, it is initially placed at an appropriate height,
but over time it gradually becomes lower.
(very slightly...)
This almost never happens with natural teeth.

It is located between the tooth and the jawbone!!
An implant has no structure called the periodontal ligament,
so it receives impact directly, which causes this.
One cause is that the height may decrease as the bite stabilizes.
(Interesting, isn’t it?)
In particular, for people with many missing teeth, the bite can be unstable
and the position of the jaw joint can change.
As the jaw joint returns to its normal position, the height can also decrease.
Implants are fixed into the bone,
but over time the bone height gradually decreases by a few millimeters.
It can also happen due to bone resorption...
In any case, as the height lowers,
food may not be chewed properly,
so even if there are no problems, you should visit the clinic.
In this case, a correction to raise the height of the prosthesis is necessary.
Visit 3–6 months after implant prosthesis completion
- Prevent peri-implantitis

Unlike natural teeth, implants have no nerves,
so even if inflammation develops, you may not feel pain. (Important)
Inflammation can occur in the gum around an implant,
and a serious drawback is that it can dissolve the jawbone...
In severe cases, it can even lead to implant loss.
To prevent peri-implantitis,
you should visit us even if there is no discomfort!

The way to prevent it is regular scaling.
We check the gum condition
and treat any inflammation early.
If the implant area in Godeok-dong bleeds
and the gums are red and swollen, please visit immediately!!
- Solve food getting stuck problems
https://blog.naver.com/implant_master/223550955216
At first, of course, the prosthesis is made so that food does not get stuck,
but over time food can become trapped.
Unlike implants, which are fixed in bone,
natural teeth surrounded by the periodontal ligament can move slightly.
If food gets stuck every time you eat,
you don’t need to put up with the discomfort.
If the prosthesis becomes loose over time, we can fix it with a correction.
Leaving food stuck there repeatedly
is certainly not good for the gums either~~~

Please come in for an implant checkup even if there is no discomfort.
(Please..)
An implant is not something that is finished once it is placed;
it is a treatment that requires ongoing care.
Regular checkups are essential to address issues such as height changes, prevention of peri-implantitis, and food impaction!!
In particular, unlike natural teeth, implants have no nerves,
so it is difficult to detect problems on your own.
Just because you are using it well does not necessarily mean everything is fine,
so please be sure to get help from a professional 😊
