Hello~
I’m Director Jang Tae-hyun of Seoul Bardi Dental Clinic.
The most common call we receive from patients is
"The bleeding won’t stop. What should I do?ㅠㅠㅠ"
If you’re reading this now, you probably looked it up because you were worried too.
I completely understand how you feel.
You may be wondering, Isn’t this bleeding going to make me anemic..?
Or maybe you’re thinking, What if I have some kind of illness?
If you’re worried that the bleeding won’t stop after tooth extraction, come in now. What is the answer from a Godeok-dong dental clinic?
I’ll take care of your worries.
Let’s get started~~

If the bleeding continues after tooth extraction?
More than worrying, proper hemostasis is important!
Many people worry that the bleeding does not seem to stop after tooth extraction.
The same goes after implant surgery~~
Some people say that even after suturing, the bleeding keeps going.
In most cases, it is not severe bleeding,
but it just looks like a lot because it is mixed with saliva.
(Don’t worry~~~)
Knowing the proper hemostasis method can reduce anxiety.
Compression hemostasis is the key!!
The most effective way to deal with bleeding that won’t stop after tooth extraction is "compression hemostasis."
In movies and dramas, when someone is stabbed by a gun or knife,
they press on the bleeding area, right~~
It’s the same for the area where a tooth was extracted or an implant was placed.
Place gauze on the bleeding area and bite down firmly!!

When I see patients visiting the Godeok-dong dental clinic because the bleeding does not stop as expected,
many of them are afraid to bite down hard because they think it will hurt~~
When we give instructions, we tell you to bite down firmly for 2 hours, right?
You need to bite down firmly for at least 2 hours for the bleeding to stop.
But it doesn’t stop completely all at once~~
If you brush your teeth and touch the wound area,
it may show some staining,
and for about 2 to 3 days after extraction or surgery,
a small amount may still come out.
That’s fine as long as it is not gushing out.
Even if you feel the bleeding is not stopping,
do not keep changing the gauze or remove it and bite again.
(If you keep taking the gauze out to check, the bleeding stops more slowly...)
If you remove the gauze before hemostasis is complete, bleeding may start again.

Because it mixes with saliva, it may look like there is more blood!!!
After tooth extraction, saliva and blood can mix in the mouth,
making the bleeding look worse than it actually is.
But if the blood is dark red.
If you’ve done compression hemostasis for 2 to 3 hours and it is still
gushing out like in a movie, then
you should call us~

Reasons why the bleeding does not stop after tooth extraction
The reasons hemostasis is delayed are as follows.
● Frequently removing the gauze to check or replace it
● Spitting out saliva or rinsing the mouth repeatedly because you dislike the taste of blood
● Taking anticoagulant medication
(If you cannot stop the medication for unavoidable reasons, we still extract the tooth,
but compared with other people, the bleeding stops later..)
● Having high blood pressure
(If blood pressure is high, bleeding lasts longer.)
There are various reasons why the bleeding does not stop after tooth extraction!
If the bleeding continues even after removing the gauze,
bite down firmly again with the gauze provided by the Godeok-dong dental clinic.
For at least 30 minutes..
It is also best to avoid using straws as much as possible.
The pressure inside the mouth can rise and the bleeding may not stop~

Conclusion
Please do not keep checking whether the bleeding has stopped!
Bleeding after tooth extraction is mostly natural,
and it often only looks excessive because it is mixed with saliva, so severe cases are rare.
Bite the gauze properly,
and not checking unnecessarily is the most important thing.
That said, during business hours at the Godeok-dong dental clinic,
you are always welcome to come by~
You can also call us~
If seeing it directly
would make you feel more at ease,
please feel free to visit!!
Since you made the trip,
we’ll even disinfect it once more~~
Thank you😊
