When I first opened the clinic,

I built it with digital dental treatment in mind.

I thought digital treatment would become commonplace within the next 10 years.

As I kept buying this and that out of interest in equipment,

our clinic now uses an oral scanner

and even makes prosthetics in-house haha

But why is this treatment method good for patients?

I’d like to explain a bit.

Until oral scanners were developed,

we had to put sticky material in the mouth and wait for several minutes.

But I’ve tried this method myself,

and there are many inconveniences.

The scary rubber rubber

Saliva also keeps dripping.

To be honest, it feels like you’re going to throw up.

When it’s removed, it feels like your teeth might get pulled out.

The material pushes up toward the throat,

and you start thinking, wow... isn’t this going to go down my throat?

I even had thoughts like that~

By contrast, the oral scanner...?

It scans the inside of the mouth, which is why it’s called an oral scanner.

Among people who work in offices,

there probably isn’t a patient who hasn’t experienced scanning.

Just like scanning a document,

teeth can be copy-pasted too

1. Comfortable treatment without the uncomfortable impression-taking process

Recently, a patient who visited the Godeok-dong dental clinic

said they could not receive dental treatment because of claustrophobia.

When doing orthodontic treatment with Invisalign,

if there is no scanner, a rubber impression has to be taken every time.

Since the appliance usually progresses through more than 20 stages,

you would have to take impressions that many times too,

but if there is an oral scanner, that number can be reduced.

It can also provide simulations that predict tooth movement during orthodontic treatment,

and you can check changes after treatment in advance.

Also, in implant procedures, it allows for precise surgical planning,

contributing to a higher success rate.

3. Faster treatment time and immediate confirmation

Right after scanning, you can check the 3D model on the screen.

Look at the tooth color reproduction~~

There is no need to wait for the traditional process of taking an impression,

pouring plaster, and waiting for it to harden~

You can immediately see whether the impression came out well,

and if any part did not come out well, you can rescan it on the spot,

so additional visits are also reduced.

5. Digital storage of the patient’s oral health records

Since the data captured by the oral scanner is stored digitally,

it is possible to track the patient’s oral condition over the long term.

Usually, with the traditional impression-taking method,

even after just a week,

there are dozens of plaster models piled up and they all get thrown away....

Implants may need repair later on..

This is very useful in those cases.

Comparison with past data is also possible,

so it’s easy to check

where and how much things have worsened~~
