Hello!
This is Seoul Vardi Dental Clinic.
We are introducing a case in which treatment time was shortened with immediate implants for teeth that were difficult to save due to cavities, as well as already lost teeth.
If you have never experienced how inconvenient it is to be without molars, you may not know.
Molars handle most of the chewing function, and if both sides are missing, eating itself becomes a hardship.
However, as in this case, if implants are placed at the same time as extraction, treatment time can be shortened and you can return to daily life more quickly.
Condition of the teeth at the time of the visit

On September 25, 2025,
the patient visited us saying,
"I don't have the upper molars on both sides, so I came to get a consultation."
The initial examination results were as follows:

Missing molars on both upper sides
Chewing was difficult because the molars on both sides were damaged and gone due to cavities
No notable systemic medical history
Overall good health
The remaining teeth were in a condition requiring extraction
"I can't chew food properly, so digestion isn't good and my quality of life is declining..."
The patient wanted prompt treatment, and after thorough consultation, we proposed extracting the teeth and placing implants immediately.

What is immediate implant placement after extraction?
It is a method in which an implant is placed right in the same spot on the same day the tooth is extracted.
Advantages of immediate implants
-
Shorter treatment period: there is no need to wait for the bone to fill in after extraction
-
Fewer surgeries: extraction and implant placement are done at the same time, so two surgeries are not needed
-
Preserves a natural gum shape
-
Reduces the inconvenience of undergoing multiple surgeries

Is this possible in all cases?
No.
- When inflammation is not severe
- When there is sufficient bone volume and bone condition
- When initial stability can be secured
These conditions must be met
for the procedure to be performed safely.
Being able to proceed right away
is lucky too

We provided a thorough consultation while reviewing the detailed X-rays together.
Since the patient had already undergone several implant procedures
and had experience with dental treatment,
he was familiar with the treatment method,
but because there were also differences compared with the lower teeth,
we explained everything as simply as possible with drawings.

Treatment plan
For those aged 65 and older, 2 insurance-covered implants are available for life
The remaining 3 will be done without insurance coverage
What are insurance-covered implants?

After a thorough consultation,
the extraction and implant surgery were performed the very next day.
During extraction,
we performed bone grafting where necessary
and placed the implants.
Even in the same patient,
the bone condition can differ by area.
The right molar was covered within the gum bone
so that it could heal sufficiently,
and the other implants had relatively good bone conditions,
so we connected them with healing caps.

The patient said,
"It was less uncomfortable than I expected," and went home relieved.
However, as the anesthesia wore off,
pain could occur,
so please take the prescribed medication properly
and rest well today.
Healing process the day after surgery
The day after surgery,
the patient visited for disinfection and a status check.
Disinfection of the surgical site was performed,
and we checked whether the swelling and bleeding had settled well.
Pain level was checked.
No abnormal findings.
The precautions were explained once again.
We plan to see you again in one month,
and in the meantime, you may gently brush the cap that is exposed above.
If it falls out,
please bring it back as soon as possible
so it can be reinserted.
Just because you had implants...
You absolutely must not stop brushing your teeth thinking, "I shouldn't touch it."
From the time I mentioned onward,
you should carefully clean with a soft toothbrush.
It may still be difficult to eat,
but once the teeth are in place,
you will be able to eat comfortably,
so I hope you can endure a little longer together.
Losing molars
is not simply
an issue with one tooth.
Molars are responsible for 80% of chewing function,
and especially if both sides are missing,
not only eating but also digestion, nutrient intake,
and even overall quality of life are affected.
However, if the situation allows for immediate implant placement after extraction,
as in this case,
you can shorten the treatment period
and also reduce costs
by using insurance-covered implants.
With a customized approach tailored to bone condition,
we will provide safe treatment.
