"My lower front tooth is gradually protruding,

and the looseness has gotten worse."

This was the symptom when a patient who first visited two years ago came back.

At first, the tooth looseness was barely noticeable, but over time it became progressively worse.

After taking an X-ray,

it was clear that the tooth had moved up quite a bit over the past two years.

After examining the mouth,

one of the lower front teeth was especially protruded and very loose.

"Isn’t it possible for teeth to get a little loose as you get older?" No, you should never leave a loose tooth alone.

Loose teeth are not just a sign of aging; they are a warning signal from the body.

If you look at the area marked with the arrow,

you can see that it is especially red and swollen compared to the surrounding gums, right?

The gums are swollen due to inflammation caused by tartar.

The yellow-marked area is tartar. Tartar can be thought of as a mass of bacteria that has hardened from food debris into something as hard as a rock.

This mass of bacteria causes gum disease,

and as the inflammation becomes chronic, it slowly dissolves the jawbone that supports the gums.

As a result, the strength supporting the tooth gradually weakens,

and the tooth becomes loose.

The problem is? If you leave a loose tooth alone because it doesn’t hurt, the inflammation spreads further and the bone around neighboring teeth can also dissolve.

So, to prevent greater damage, the tooth causing the inflammation should be removed as quickly as possible—even one day sooner matters.

2. A case of treating a loose tooth with extraction followed by an implant

For this patient as well, the situation required prompt extraction before the inflammation spread further.

Two treatment options were explained:

1. Fast treatment: shave down the adjacent teeth and connect them with a bridge
2. Even though it takes longer, an implant that does not alter the natural teeth

Since shaving down the adjacent natural teeth would cause damage,

the patient decided to proceed with an implant even though it would take more time.

Precise diagnosis through 3D CT

To reduce errors and place the implant accurately, 3D CT imaging is essential.

Because it is an important process for increasing implant success rates,

we examine it very carefully.

Extraction and implant placement

After extraction, the inflammatory tissue was completely removed,

and the areas of dissolved gum bone were carefully filled with bone graft material.

After that, the implant was placed in the correct position.

Before placement, we check the exact position using instruments.

Because the foundation must be properly prepared for the implant to be stable,

we proceed with great care during bone grafting.

After confirming that the gums had healed completely, we took a scan using a digital scanner.

Unlike before, patients no longer need to keep biting down on material that feels uncomfortable,

so they feel much more at ease.
