Gangdong-gu Dental Impressions: Are You Still Biting Down for 5 Minutes?
We’ll Make It Comfortable with an Intraoral Scanner!
Hello,
I’m the director of Seoul Vardi Dental Clinic.
When you need dental treatment,
one thing can be just as worrying as the pain itself:
the impression-taking process.
The pain of having to endure
sticky, soft, rubber-like material
filling your mouth,
and biting down for 5 minutes until it sets...

Especially for people with a sensitive stomach
or a strong gag reflex,
it can be a real ordeal...
But at Seoul Vardi Dental Clinic,
there’s no need for that anymore!
Because we have an intraoral scanner~

So today, I’d like to talk about
our clinic’s pride and the device our patients like most:
our digital intraoral scanner.
What exactly is different about an intraoral scanner?
Gangdong-gu Dental Impressions: Are You Still Biting Down for 5 Minutes?
Simply put, you can think of it as a
"high-precision 3D camera that photographs the inside of your mouth."
Thanks to this device, the impression-taking process,
which used to be one of the most uncomfortable parts of dental treatment,
has changed beyond expectation.^^
- There is no foreign-body sensation during impression taking
Gangdong-gu intraoral scanner
In the past, we had to fill the mouth with sticky rubber material,
and patients had to endure it for more than 5 minutes until it hardened.
For people with a sensitive stomach,
this process could trigger gagging and be very difficult.

With the intraoral scanner we use,
a small camera shaped like a pen
glides through the mouth,
and the inside of the mouth is copied as it is.
People who have experienced it firsthand
often say, "The world has really changed," and find it amazing,
and above all, they say the impression-taking process was
so comfortable that they were very satisfied~
- Because distortion is minimal, precise prosthetics can be made
Gangdong-gu intraoral scanner
When taking an impression with rubber material,
there was always a risk that the material would dry,
shrink slightly, or become distorted.
But digital scanning combines tens of thousands of photos
to reproduce the oral structure in 3D without error.

This is why prosthetics can be made to fit your teeth so perfectly!
- Only the necessary parts can be corrected immediately.

In the past, even if the impression was slightly incomplete,
you had to restart from the beginning the difficult process
of biting down for 5 minutes.
But with the scanner, you can look at the screen
and rescan only the parts that need correction.
There’s no need to take the entire impression again,
so the work time becomes much shorter.
- The patient’s oral data is stored digitally.

What if, over time, the prosthesis is damaged
or needs adjustment?
In the past, plaster models had to be discarded
even after just a week..

The intraoral scanner data is
stored permanently.
Even if you come back after a long time,
your oral data remains intact,
so there is no need to take an impression again;
you can use the data from that time,
which is one of the biggest advantages of the digital method.
A patient case of someone who was too afraid of dental sounds and gagging
Gangdong-gu Dental Impressions: We’ll Make It Comfortable with an Intraoral Scanner!
This patient had chipped and worn front teeth,
so looking in the mirror caused a great deal of stress.
They were also afraid of the sounds at the dentist,
and above all, they had a severe gag reflex in daily life,
so they had postponed treatment for years.
Then,
after hearing from an acquaintance that
"these days they take impressions with a computer, so it’s much more comfortable,"
they gathered their courage and came to see us.
First, we scanned the inside of the mouth with an intraoral scanner.

We displayed the 3D data and checked the condition together with the patient.
Looking closely, the situation was not as good as expected.
250311
- Upper teeth: mismatch due to fracture of the central incisors (#11, 21) and a microdontia (#12)
250311
- Lower teeth: exposed dentin due to tooth wear, irregular alignment, fracture of #31, 33

The patient wanted straight and durable teeth,
so we decided to treat the upper 4 teeth and the lower 5 teeth
with durable zirconia bridges.
Finally, the full impression process began.

At first, the patient looked somewhat tense,
but after seeing the scanner gently pass through the mouth,
their expression quickly changed to one of relief~
Hearing the patient say that the impression process
was much easier than before
made me feel once again that choosing to introduce digital equipment was the right decision.^^

Even if the prosthesis made this way
later needs adjustment,
there is a big advantage in that there is no need to take an impression again.
That’s because the patient’s perfect scan data
is already preserved in our system.
Thanks to that, the patient was able to regain
straight and beautiful front teeth
without major discomfort until the end.

We carefully manage even the parts you can’t see.
Gangdong-gu Dental Impressions: We’ll Make It Comfortable with an Intraoral Scanner!
The reason Seoul Vardi Dental Clinic insists on a digital system is simple.
We want to reduce the patient’s discomfort as much as possible
and improve the quality of treatment.
Dental treatment should not be about good "technology" alone.
True skill means resolving even the psychological discomfort and fear
that patients feel.
