Hello, this is Seoul Dia Dental Clinic in Magok-dong.
Last time, we shared one of the most important stages of implant treatment:
“7 precautions you must follow after implant surgery.”
If you were busy and missed it, feel free to review it through the link below :)
[View precautions after implant surgery]
And today, we continue the story! We’ve finally reached the last stage of implant treatment.
Now it’s time to tell you how to care for it so it lasts after the prosthetic tooth (crown) is placed.
If you thought, “The crown is on, so we’re done!”—that’s a misunderstanding!
From now on, Dia Dental Clinic will tell you how to use it for a long time, almost like a natural tooth.
Care After Implant Prosthetics
- Replace hard foods with softer ones.

Magok-dong Dental Clinic_Restricting Hard Food Intake
“Now that everything is done, I should crunch squid, peanuts, and lots of ice~”
You’ve been waiting for this, right? But not yet.
Even after the prosthetic is placed, it takes at least 6 months to 1 year for the bone to become fully firm.
During this period, too much force can put strain on the prosthetic, so
please stay away from tough and hard foods for a while.
For example, it is best to avoid peanuts, dried squid, and hard scorched rice.
Start gradually with softer foods like rice, steamed eggs, and soup.
- If the prosthetic feels loose or falls out, contact us right away.

Magok-dong Dental Clinic_Prosthetic Looseness
The moment the prosthetic, meaning the crown, is placed! If you felt relieved and thought, “Okay, it’s done now~”...
the unexpected can sometimes happen.
The most common case? The crown feels slightly loose,
or, rather surprisingly, it suddenly falls out!
If that happens, do not panic—contact the dental clinic right away.
- Please take even more careful oral hygiene.

Magok-dong Dental Clinic_Oral Care
Implants are strong against cavities.
But... the gums are still delicate and sensitive.
In particular, the area around the prosthetic easily traps food debris,
so if you neglect it even a little, inflammation, swelling, and discomfort can show up quickly.
That’s why brushing with a soft toothbrush is basic.
Clean carefully between teeth with interdental brushes and dental floss, and use an oral irrigator if needed.
- If chewing feels awkward, don’t just brush it off.

Magok-dong Dental Clinic_Discomfort While Eating
After the implant prosthetic is first placed,
“Hmm? Something feels a bit different...?”
That feeling can naturally happen because you’re not used to it.
But if the awkward feeling continues for days or weeks?
It may not simply be a matter of adjustment.
The bite may be slightly off, or there may be a minor error in the prosthetic’s position.
“Ah, it’ll probably feel fine if I just keep using it~”
If you let it go like that, it could lead to temporomandibular joint pain and even headaches.
A small discomfort inside the mouth can affect the balance of the entire body!
If anything feels even a little off, feel free to visit the clinic.
- Get into the habit of chewing food by pressing up and down.

Magok-dong Dental Clinic_Chewing Up and Down
Implants are strong, but they are somewhat vulnerable to twisting forces from side to side.
So if you have the habit of unconsciously chewing side to side when eating,
from now on, you should consciously build the habit of pressing and chewing up and down.
It may feel a little awkward at first, but after a few days you’ll develop your own new chewing routine.
And this habit is not just for implants.
It also helps maintain the health of natural teeth—a true two-in-one routine!
The habit of chewing by pressing properly = the formula for long-lasting implants!
Start practicing from today
- Please make sure to keep up with regular checkups.

Magok-dong Dental Clinic_Dia Dental Regular Checkup
Finishing the prosthetic does not mean everything is over.
If the condition is not checked regularly,
the jawbone can slowly resorb and eventually threaten the entire implant.
At Seoul Dia Dental Clinic, we recommend regular checkups every 3 to 6 months after the prosthetic is placed.
During these checkups, we carefully examine whether the prosthetic’s position and height need adjustment,
the condition of the surrounding gums and whether there is inflammation,
whether there is tartar or staining,
and feedback on oral hygiene habits.
Please make time to come in for a checkup!
Shall we smartly review what we learned today once more?^^
