So today, Seoul DIA Dental Clinic will neatly organize those questions for you!
Before that!
If you missed the previous post we shared,
[Part 3: Important Precautions to Follow After Root Canal Treatment]
please feel free to review it first through the link below.^^
Now then, today’s topic is: “After crown treatment, how should you care for it so it lasts a long time?”
Seoul DIA Dental Clinic will point out the key things you need to know!
Please focus from here on.
What should you watch out for after crown prosthetic treatment?
- At first, the crown is bonded as a ‘temporary’.

Magok-dong Dental Clinic_ Temporary crown bonding
A crown is not initially fixed ‘strongly’ with adhesive from the start.
First, it is temporarily attached with a weak adhesive.
Why?
To check over several days whether it feels okay when chewing, whether your pronunciation is fine,
and whether food gets stuck easily.
So in the temporary bonding state, it may suddenly come off.
If that happens, don’t panic—call the clinic right away and come in!
- Until the final bonding, please keep hard, sticky foods a little at bay.

Magok-dong Dental Clinic_ Restrict sticky foods
Caramel, taffy, nougat, chewy rice cakes...
They may make you happy when you eat them, but for a crown, they’re painful.
Especially when it is temporarily bonded, even a little sticking can pull it right off.
So until the final bonding, please avoid sticky foods,
and refrain from using that side for focused chewing as well.
- What if you feel a raised part when touching it with your tongue?

Magok-dong Dental Clinic_ Crown protrusion
Do you feel something like a ‘bulging hook’ at the edge of the prosthetic?
Don’t be too alarmed!
That is the handle-like part made so the prosthetic can be removed again during temporary bonding.
In some cases, a protrusion is intentionally created.
After final bonding, this part is trimmed and finished smoothly and naturally.
Even if it feels strange, it is just a ‘pre-completion stage,’ so don’t worry!
- If the crown falls off, you must come in right away.

Magok-dong Dental Clinic_ Crown detachment
Sometimes it may ‘pop off’ while eating.
Because it is temporarily bonded,
it can come off at the most unexpected moment.
Absolutely, under no circumstances should you try to glue it back on yourself.
If the position shifts, the gums may swell, the biting height may change,
and it can even affect other teeth.
If it just ‘pops off,’ please contact the clinic and come in.
Seoul DIA Dental Clinic is very used to situations like that.
- If you feel something unusual, please let us know right away.

Magok-dong Dental Clinic_ Discomfort after treatment
Feeling like one side sticks out more when chewing
Discomfort when a specific area feels sensitive or is pressed
Food keeps getting stuck, and so on—if you feel something unusual?
If you feel this, it does not mean something is ‘wrong.’
It simply means fine adjustment is needed.
Seoul DIA Dental Clinic will always give you an opportunity for adjustment until the final bonding.
Please don’t just brush it off thinking, “It’ll be fine...”
Otherwise, it may later lead to bite problems or temporomandibular joint imbalance.
