Hello.
So that you don’t end up worrying for no reason,
Magok-dong Dental Clinic, Seoul Dia Dental Clinic, is here to organize and share only the information you need right now.
In the previous post, we covered the basics of care right after
implant surgery,
including bleeding, swelling, medication, and rest.
If you haven’t seen it yet,
you may want to read Part 1, [Care Right After Implant Surgery],
first.^^
Now, here’s the next part.
These days on social media, Dubai chewy cookies,
also called “Dujeonku,” are all the rage.
With their chewy, crispy texture and nutty flavor,
just seeing them makes you think:
“Ah… one bite of that would make me so happy...”
But for people who have just finished implant surgery,
that happiness needs to wait a little bit.^^
Right now, your mouth is
not a “mouth for eating,”
but a “mouth for recovering.”ㅋㅋ
So today,
let’s take a very practical look at food after implant surgery.
Food After Implant Surgery: Here’s How to Eat
- Do not eat right after surgery

Magok-dong Dental Clinic_Dental anesthesia
For about 2 to 3 hours after implant surgery,
your mouth still feels numb and strange.
If you eat before the anesthesia has worn off,
you may bite your cheek, burn your tongue,
or irritate the wound.
So there is just one rule.
After the anesthesia wears off → remove the gauze → eat once sensation has returned
Usually, this is possible about 2 to 3 hours after surgery.
- For the first 2 to 3 days, eat foods that do not require chewing

Even though the outside may look fine on the day of surgery,
the gums underneath are working hard to recover.
At times like this,
foods such as rice porridge, thin porridge, soup, steamed eggs, and soft noodles
that go down easily without much chewing are ideal.
“From when can I eat meat?”
Well… please let your gums rest first.^^
- It’s better to avoid hot and spicy foods for now

Even after the anesthesia wears off,
the sensation in your mouth is still dull.
At this point, hot broth, spicy tteokbokki, Buldak noodles, and chicken feet
can irritate the wound and slow recovery.
So please hold off for at least 2 to 3 weeks.
(Let’s eat it even more deliciously later.)
- Chew on the opposite side

For the first few days after implant placement,
the implant is settling into the jawbone.
If you keep chewing on the surgical side during this time,
it may move unnecessarily.
Chew on the opposite side.
Just following this one rule will make recovery much easier.
- Please pause using straws for a while

When you drink through a straw,
suction is created in the mouth,
which can reopen the area that has stopped bleeding.
Water and drinks should be sipped slowly from a cup.
That is the safest option.
To summarize today’s post at a glance
Food after implant surgery,
just remember this:
- Eat only after 2 to 3 hours
- Keep it soft for the first 2 to 3 days
- Take a break from hot and spicy foods
- Chew on the opposite side
- Do not use straws
Not too complicated, right? ^^
If your mouth is even a little more comfortable, recovery will also be much faster.
