Hello.
We are Seoul Dia Dental,
thinking together about the beauty and health of your teeth
at Magok Station.
This is Part 6 of our implant series!
In Part 5,
we answered your questions
about implant anesthesia.
Today, we’ll address another practical question.
“How many times do I need to visit the dentist for implants?”
“Can everything be completed in one visit?”
“I’m an office worker, so it’s difficult to take time off frequently.”
In a busy daily life,
having to visit the dentist several times
is one of the practical reasons
people hesitate to get implants.
Today, Seoul Dia Dental
will realistically organize
the number of visits required at each stage of implant treatment.
Why do you need to visit several times for implants?
Implant treatment
is broadly divided into three stages.
Stage 1 – Placement
The stage in which the implant (screw) is placed in the bone
Stage 2 – Osseointegration
The process in which the implant and bone become firmly attached
Stage 3 – Prosthetic restoration
The stage in which a tooth (crown) is placed over the implant
Each stage
requires confirmation,
and because time is needed
between stages,
multiple visits are necessary.
Number of visits by stage

Magok Implants_Examination
Stage 1 – Initial consultation and examination (1–2 visits / approximately 1–2 weeks)
At your first visit,
we carefully check the condition of the bone, the location of the nerves, and the condition of the surrounding teeth
using panoramic X-rays and a CT scan.
Based on these results,
we create an implant treatment plan
and schedule the surgery date.

Magok Implants_Implant Placement
Stage 2 – Implant placement surgery (1 visit / on the day of surgery)
This is the surgery to place the implant in the bone.
In simple cases, it often
can be completed in approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Stage 3 – Postoperative checkup (1–2 visits / 1–2 weeks after surgery)
Within 1–2 weeks after surgery,
we remove the stitches and check the recovery process.

Magok Implants_Osseointegration Period
Stage 4 – Osseointegration period (approximately 3 months for the lower jaw, approximately 4–6 months for the upper jaw)
This is the period during which
the implant and bone become attached.
If bone grafting is performed at the same time,
this period may be longer.
During this period,
unless there is a particular problem,
you do not need to visit frequently.
Stage 5 – Secondary surgery (1 visit / approximately 2–4 weeks of recovery)
After osseointegration is complete,
secondary surgery may be necessary
to expose the implant post above the gum.
If the procedure was performed during the initial surgery
so that the post was exposed above the gum right away,
this step can be omitted.
Stage 6 – Prosthesis fabrication and placement (2–3 visits / approximately 2–4 weeks)
We take an impression,
try in the fabricated crown,
and adjust the bite after final placement.
It takes approximately 1–2 weeks
for the dental laboratory to fabricate the crown.
How long does the entire treatment period take?
Rather than the number of visits,
what people actually ask about more often
is the total treatment period.
In general,
from implant placement to the final prosthesis,
it takes approximately 3–6 months.
For upper-jaw implants,
or when bone grafting is necessary,
it may take more than 6 months.
Although this may feel like a long time,
most of this period
is the osseointegration period
during which the implant and bone become attached.
Because the waiting period is long,
you do not need to visit frequently,
so you do not need to feel too burdened.
Tips for busy office workers
If you identify in advance
the necessary appointments,
such as the initial consultation, surgery, and prosthesis placement,
it becomes much easier to coordinate your schedule.
At Seoul Dia Dental,
we provide the full treatment schedule in advance
before treatment begins.
If you know from the beginning
when and how many times you will need to visit,
you can proceed comfortably
while fitting treatment around your work and daily life.
And one more thing!
Seoul Dia Dental
offers appointments during lunch hours, in the evenings, and on weekends.

Seoul Dia Dental at Magok Station
Now, shall we briefly summarize today’s discussion?
Implant treatment proceeds in three stages: placement → osseointegration → prosthetic restoration
The total number of visits is approximately 6–8 for a simple case
The entire treatment period is approximately 3–6 months
Frequent visits are not necessary during the osseointegration period
Knowing the full schedule in advance before treatment begins can reduce the burden
In the next part,
we’ll discuss:
“What is the difference between zirconia and PFM implant prostheses?”
Today, stay healthy,
and have a day filled with bright smiles. ^^
