Hello, this is Yonsei Yegam Dental Clinic, located directly across from the Samsung Main Building, at Exit 7 of City Hall Station in Seoul.
Located in the center of Seoul, inside the old city walls,
it is easy to reach from anywhere in Seoul, including Gwanghwamun, Mapo Ahyeon, Dongdaemun-gu, Seodaemun Station, Euljiro, Myeong-dong, Seoul Station, and Chungjeongno.
Today, we would like to tell you about resin treatment for gaps between the front teeth, which many people with spaced front teeth often worry about.
Because there is a saying that having a gap between the front teeth means your fortune is escaping, many people even come in specifically for resin treatment to close the gap.
First, shall we take a look at photos of resin treatment for gaps between the front teeth performed at our clinic?
[Only photos taken with the patient’s consent are shared]

In some cases, there is still a gap even after orthodontic treatment has already been done at another clinic,
so resin is used.

Resin treatment for the gap between the front teeth can be completed in one day, but it is a complex and difficult treatment.
For patients, front-tooth resin treatment is a same-day procedure, so it is a treatment that can fix a complex in about an hour.
However, from the clinician’s perspective, resin between the front teeth is not as simple as the resin treatment for decay on the chewing surfaces of molars, which many people receive.
Why? Because resin treatment for a gap between the front teeth:
- Molars are hidden by shadows inside the mouth, so as long as the color is white, it is not very noticeable. In contrast, front teeth are visible directly with almost no shadow, so matching the various tooth shades is difficult.
- Because the tongue touches the area, patients may feel that the junction between the existing tooth and the resin is uneven or rough.
- If the area contacts the lower teeth when biting firmly, the resin can come off, so special care must be taken with bonding.
Therefore, resin treatment between the front teeth costs more than regular cavity resin treatment.
In the case of molar cavity resin treatment,
it costs 80,000 KRW for very small cases, usually 100,000 KRW or 120,000 KRW, and 150,000 KRW for larger and deeper cases.
In the case of resin treatment for a gap between the front teeth (diastema),
it is 300,000 KRW per tooth surface.
[If, like in the photo directly below, the gap is in the center and resin must be applied to the teeth on both sides, it involves two teeth, so 300,000 KRW × 2 teeth = 600,000 KRW]

For resin between the front teeth,
because they are front teeth, the color is not just one shade for one tooth but must include multiple shades,
and because the shape also requires extreme care unlike molars, it takes about three times as long as molar resin treatment.
A gap between the front teeth cannot always be treated with resin,
and it can only be performed when it is possible under the dentist’s diagnosis.
Unlike cavity treatment, where decay must be removed, or crowns, where the tooth is shaved,
resin for a gap between the front teeth is usually done without tooth reduction, so it is satisfying not only aesthetically in terms of appearance but also in many other ways for patients.
Other methods besides resin
To fill a gap between the front teeth,
resin is the simplest and quickest method,
but depending on the size, bite, and other factors,
may be considered.
▼Laminate veneer for gaps between teeth due to undersized teeth

▼Foreign patient with front teeth that were too widely spaced, then laminate veneers after partial orthodontic treatment
