Drooping Nasal Tip.. Do You Really Need Revision Rhinoplasty?

Today, we’d like to talk about one of the issues many people worry about after rhinoplasty:

“the nasal tip drooping” and revision rhinoplasty for it :)

After the first nose surgery and as time passes... Why does the nasal tip droop? At first, right after surgery, the tip looked high and beautiful. But after a few months,

“Uh..? Why did the tip come down like this?”

Many of you may have felt this way, right?

There are various reasons this can happen.

1. The support structure was weak, or
2. The tip was raised too much and could not hold up, or
3. The tissue may have been damaged due to inflammation or a contracture response.

In the end, as the force supporting the nasal tip weakens,

it gives the impression of a drooping nose,

and in severe cases, even the shape of the nostrils may change.

Just because the nasal tip has dropped,

does that mean revision surgery is absolutely necessary?

To give you the conclusion first,

it depends on the current condition and function of the nose, as well as your own level of satisfaction.

However, if any of the following apply, we recommend strongly considering revision surgery.

🖤 The nose looks much flatter and heavier than before

🖤 The nasal tip has dropped so much that the overall proportions are off

🖤 The nostrils look asymmetrical or appear upturned

🖤 Breathing is difficult, or there are accompanying nasal congestion symptoms

The key to revision rhinoplasty is to rebuild the collapsed nasal tip properly.

In general, the support structure is reinforced through septal extension surgery,

or, if necessary, stable structure is created using ear cartilage, rib cartilage, and so on.

Because it is a more difficult and delicate process than the first surgery,

choosing a medical team with extensive experience is truly important.

If your nasal tip dropped after your first nose surgery, please don’t be too discouraged :)
