There are many different nose shapes, just as there are many different eye shapes.
Because the nose is at the center of the face, its length, height, and shape have a big impact on overall impression.
Among them, the short nose, which is common among Asians,
is often called a upturned nose or pig nose, and it can easily give a rustic impression,
making it difficult to have a positive image because the balance of the facial features is disrupted.
At the same time, it was also considered one of the nose shapes that people dislike because, in physiognomy, it is said to let wealth leak away.
A short nose can be caused by a small nasal bone or cartilage,
and it tends to reduce facial dimensionality, making the face look flat.

In addition, by identifying the characteristics of the nose—whether it is an upturned nose with the nostrils highly visible from the front,
whether the alar cartilage at the tip is raised upward,
or whether the nose is simply short—and then performing the appropriate surgery,
more definite improvement and highly satisfying results can be achieved.
This type of nose can be improved by using implants or autologous tissue to raise the low starting point of the nose upward. Today, let’s take a detailed look at the surgical methods for a short nose :D
A Short Nose Common Among Asians

As mentioned earlier, a short nose refers to a nose whose length is shorter than one-third of the entire face and is upturned, so that the nostrils are highly visible from the front.
It also includes a nose that has become shortened due to contracture of the spherical scar, one of the complications after rhinoplasty.
For this type of nose, not only the height but also the length must be improved together, and if an implant is used without correction, it may become even shorter and look more upturned.
That is why it is one of the more difficult surgeries compared with other nasal procedures.
If the alar cartilage at the tip of the nose is directed upward, the tip may look upturned and the nose may appear shorter.
In such cases, it can be improved with cartilage reshaping surgery.
After removing part of the upper portion of the alar cartilage and moving it downward for fixation, the height of the nasal tip can be lowered and the length can also be increased!
Even a short nose can become beautiful!

At DM Plastic Surgery, through sufficient consultation with specialized medical staff in eye and nose surgery, whose expertise has been verified through extensive clinical experience and know-how,
we personally perform 1:1 customized rhinoplasty tailored to each individual’s preferences and nose condition.
By accurately identifying the current condition and applying the appropriate surgical method, definite improvement is possible.
We help improve the overall image by creating the most ideal nose while considering balance, harmony, and angles.
In addition, 3D-CT analysis allows for safer and more three-dimensional evaluation,
so we establish an accurate surgical plan by assessing not only what can be seen in a general consultation but also the internal structure, muscle layer, and skin tissue condition.
Surgical Methods by Short-Nose Type

When the alar cartilage that forms the nasal tip is positioned upward,
part of the upper alar cartilage is removed through cartilage reshaping surgery,
and the position is lowered to correct it.

If correction is difficult with the cartilage reshaping surgery mentioned above,
a surgical method is used in which part of the alar cartilage is removed and septal cartilage grafting is performed in between
to lengthen the nasal tip.

After correcting the length of a short nose with the two surgical methods explained above,
this method corrects the length and height of the bridge and nasal tip using an implant and autologous cartilage.
Since there are several methods available, identifying the condition and problems of the nose is the most important part.
To achieve highly satisfying results, the procedure must be carried out with the surgical method best suited to the individual,
and because it leads to clear improvement, we recommend visiting our clinic and receiving a thorough consultation with our experienced medical staff.
