The shape of the nose varies just as much as the shape of the eyes.
Depending on its length, height, and shape, the nose sits at the center of the face and has a major impact on one’s image.
Among these, the short nose, which is common in Asians,
is often called a button nose or pig nose, and it can easily give a plain or old-fashioned impression.
At the same time, it can upset the balance of the facial features, making it difficult to have a positive image, and it has also been disliked as one of the nose shapes that, according to physiognomy, is said to let wealth leak away.
A short nose can be caused when the bones or cartilage of the nose are small,
and it can make the face look flat by reducing its three-dimensional appearance.

Also, is it a lifted nose with a lot of nostril exposure from the front,
is the alar cartilage at the tip of the nose raised upward,
or is the nose simply short in length?
By identifying the characteristics of the nose and performing the appropriate surgery,
clear improvement and highly satisfying results can be achieved.
For this type of nose, improvement is possible by using implants or autologous tissue to raise the low starting point of the nose.
Today, let’s take a closer look at the surgical methods for a short nose :D
A short nose common among Asians

As mentioned earlier, a short nose refers to a nose whose length is shorter than one-third of the entire face and is tilted upward, exposing the nostrils prominently from the front—commonly called a button nose.
It also includes a nose that has become shortened due to contracture, which is one of the complications that can occur after rhinoplasty.
For this type of nose, it is necessary to improve not only the height but also the length of the nose.
If an implant is used without correction, the nose may become even shorter and appear more lifted, making it one of the more difficult surgeries compared with other nose surgeries.
If the alar cartilage at the tip of the nose points upward, the tip may appear lifted and the nose may look shorter.
This can be improved with cartilage surgery.
If the upper part of the alar cartilage is removed and then moved downward and fixed in place, the height of the tip can be lowered and the length can be increased!
A short nose can become beautiful too!

At DM Plastic Surgery, we personally perform 1:1 customized rhinoplasty tailored to each patient’s preferences and nasal condition through thorough consultation with our eye and nose surgery specialists, whose expertise has been proven through extensive clinical experience and know-how.
By accurately understanding the current condition and applying the appropriate surgical method, clear improvement is possible.
We also help improve the overall image by considering proportion, harmony, and angle to create the most ideal nose.
In addition, 3D-CT analysis allows for a safer and more three-dimensional evaluation, and we establish an accurate surgical plan by identifying the internal structure, muscle layer, and skin tissue condition that cannot be confirmed through a general consultation.
Surgical methods by short-nose type

If the alar cartilage that forms the tip of the nose is raised upward,
correction can be done through cartilage surgery by removing part of the upper alar cartilage and lowering its position.

If correction is difficult with the cartilage surgery described above,
a portion of the alar cartilage is removed and septal cartilage is grafted in between to lengthen the tip of the nose.

After correcting the short nose length with the two surgical methods described above,
this method uses an implant and autologous cartilage to correct the length and height of the nasal bridge and tip.
Since there are various methods, identifying the condition and problems of the nose is the most important part.
You can achieve highly satisfying results only by proceeding with the surgical method that is appropriate for the individual.
Because this leads to clear improvement, please visit our clinic and receive a thorough consultation with our experienced specialists.
